javier26 Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 India slipped to fourth on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table after being docked two points by the ICC for slow over-rate during its seven-wicket defeat against England in the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston on Tuesday. The ICC announced that the India has also been fined 40% of its match fee for the offence. After the penalty, India is on 75 points (point percentage of 52.08), a rung below Pakistan (52.38%). With six games still left for India in this WTC cycle - four against Australia at home in early 2023 and two against Bangladesh away later this year - it can reach a maximum PCT (percentage of points won) of 68.05. The Rohit Sharma-led side's final hopes will, therefore, also hinge on the performances of South Africa and Pakistan in their upcoming tours. https://sportstar.thehindu.com/cricket/india-fourth-latest-world-test-championship-wtc-points-table-slow-over-rate-penalty-edgbaston-test/article38508976.ece
Frustrated Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Chokers SA hv a decent chance of securing an ICC trophy this time. We hv been searching for one since 2013. The wait continues..............and continues...........
Nikola Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 What if Australia gets whitewashed in india? will we go instead of them?
R!TTER Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 45 minutes ago, Nikola said: What if Australia gets whitewashed in india? will we go instead of them? No, Oz is almost guaranteed a spot unless they lose next to SL & lose a series at home perhaps to SA? Our only real chance is if Oz whitewashes SA & SA don't win every other test! Ind vs Oz is only relevant to the point that we need to beat them.
rageaddict Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Even Pakistan seems to have a good chance now. They have an away series in SL and two at home against England and NZ..it's not out of their reach to win all the series.
vvvslaxman Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 WTC batting performance. Litton Das has outperformed our players in World Test championship lol Clarke, Frustrated and Norman 3
Frustrated Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 In ODI ranking as well, india has slipped below Pakistan, for the first time in last 15 years. Exciting times ahead for all Indian fans Stan AF, Norman, Clarke and 1 other 2 2
Lone Wolf Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Indian qualification looks far fetched but not impossible. Australia are in 100% more or Less. Need SA to lose to Eng & Aus away (possible) Pak to lose at least 1 test to SL & a home series defeat/draw to England (possible) India has to win every game from here.
Clarke Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 (edited) Forget WTC finals this time. Let the team crash with the non-performing hooligan, the old snail & maybe the karate kid making a return. Edited July 6, 2022 by Clarke nevada 1
zen Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Appears as if this time Pak could make it to give title to another Oceania country - Aus (Last one, Ind gave it to NZ) If SA makes it, it could get interesting … Unlike in LOIs, SA tend can do well in tests (having been #1 ranked team too) and Aus-SA game can be more interesting
Moochad Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Australia look like favourites for the WTC trophy from here
deepdynamo Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 India can make it even now. South Africa gets annihilated by England and Australia ( can happen) Pakistan lose at least one series vs SL or Eng or Nz ( can happen) India whitewash Bangla ( can happen) and then come the final series Ind vs Aus. India will know exactly what to do. So basically Australia has to win everything now ( except us) and be a clear No.1 Then India, Pak and SA can fight for a distant second spot. nevada 1
