Trust me. Kohli has more fans in Pakistan than any other Indian player in history lol  Mainly due to his PR antics. I don't who approached who, but this exchange is not totally outlandish. This is very much possible.

PR and friendly banter with padosi players is supplementary. Main reason is triple J. The Jazba, Josh, Junoon that he exhibits on the field. He is the disciplined and consistent but badmash match-winner they wish they had. That's why they love him.

That's one reason, the other is his PCness and bhaichara towards them. They prefer him over someone like Gambhir who punches back on the field and off it.

Kohli and Dhoni have punched us and scarred us more than any indian player yet they both are loved and adored all throughout Pakistan. 

They would literally psychologically make us feel inferior...and would play out of their skins, especially kohli whenever the pressure would be at its highest.

This is why so many of the current generation have such great admiration for them. 

 

Compared to them, a hate mongering clown like Gambhir that you want to compare kohli to to has done nothing apart from that 07 world t20 final performance. 

That dude is as insecure as they come and tries to pander cross border hate to earn clout. I would be surprised if even his wife likes him.

Gambhir turned up with it mattered the most, he ain't insecure at all, made it to the Indian team the hard way and secured his place in a atg batting line up, it's just afridi he doesn't get along with, he's fine with the rest.

It is the words of his coach; paddy Upton that he was the most mentally insecure cricketer he has worked with and that he always had a negative, pessimistic view on things. 

I have seen him having run ins with almost everyone. 

Him joining the BJP doesn't help but even if I cast that aside, he just comes across as an obnoxious dude.

Pakistanis should be the last ones claiming hatemongering from India. Their society has institutional hate towards Indians and Hindus.

The only time Gambhir was ever obnoxious on the pitch was the spat he had with Afridi.  And to be honest, Afridi deserved all of it. 

 

It doesn't matter what Paddy Upton or anyone else says. I don't support his politics but he carried himself with much more dignity than a lot of cricketers in his time and he stepped up in 2 World Cup knockouts .
