maniac Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 (edited) only players I have watched. Obviously picking the best among the boring ones I have watched. It’s a personal choice. Also Jadeja’s fielding is fun to watch but his other skills are a cure for insomnia. Similarly C. Walsh is one of my all time favs but found his bowling very mechanical. Siddle is one of the most boring Fast bowlers I have seen play for Australia. C. Martin’s batting was entertaining for the wrong reason so not counting that. also excluding Boycott, Gavaskar etc whom I haven’t seen live except maybe some vague memories of Sunny from WC 87 but he was entertaining from what I remember there A.Cook Azhar.Ali C.Pujara J.Kallis S.Chanderpaul T. Samaraweera R. Shastri R.Jadeja P.Siddle C. Martin C. Walsh That’s a decent team tbh. Can beat most teams with flair :) There are other names I thought of like Bavuma etc but they haven’t accomplished anything of note yet or are still starting out. BacktoCricaddict Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Good team, but there's got to be a place for Dravid there somewhere, no? maniac, Vilander and express bowling 1 2

I enjoyed Dravid on the rare occasion he played attacking cricket. Very elegant to watch. i picked players who looked boring even while playing attacking cricket :) case in point Sir Jadeja. It’s sar tan se juda type blasphemy calling him a defensive cricketer but just lacks the oomph with bat or ball. nevada, Majestic and Lord 1 2
zen Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Most of those guys in the 11 above are not swashbucklers (Swashbucklers vs. Circumspects), but I wouldn't term them as boring. I admire the gusty qualities of many of these cricketers.

coffee_rules Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Attractive play is about aesthetics. Pujara and Dravid are good examples of Melatoninsque batting. It is boring to even listen to them in interviews . My XI: Atapattu Aakash Chopra DravidPujara Adams (used to be called Padams) Carl Hooper Hashan Tilakaratne Cronje Ravi Shastri Umar Gul Sami Venkatesh Prasad
zen Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 (edited) A "boring" 11 for me would be something like below (not sure where it lies on the spectrum of "good"): Rohit Rahane Manjrekar S Iyer Vihari Parthiv Jadeja Ashwin Prabhakar Bhuvi Ishant 12th man: Praveen (if the team needs to replace one of the spinners, Jadeja or Ashwin, with a pacer) Edited July 20, 2022 by zen Lord 1

I liked his batting. Cronje and boring? Carl Hooper too was great to watch in full flow. Actually one thing I admire about Pak fast bowlers is they constantly try for wickets even if they get smashed or ineffective. I will give them that, so I wouldn’t consider Gul and Sami boring. it’s personal choice obviously but that’s my take on your list. Rest I agree with.
Majestic Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Shaun Pollock was pretty boring as well if we are looking among great bowlers. nevada 1

Overseas, he did well England I know small sample size. India clearly missed his captaincy in the Birmingham Test. Edited July 20, 2022 by Prabhdeep Singh maniac 1

I wanted to put Mudassar Nazar as opener, but he was before me. My brother and father hated his batting. They spoke highly of Majid Khan and Zaheer Abbas. I have seen couple of innings of Atapattu, was very slow unattractive shot making. Maybe you have seen him play some good cricket. Somehow Carl Hooper is a right handed C'Paul, unusual for a WI cricketer to bat ugly. Umar Gul qnd Sami were just plain fast and used to bowl straight, with no variation. I liked to watch them when Sehwag used to bat against them, as they would get mauled. Cronje bowling looked inncuous, but SRT found him very tough. He is a bowler in my team. maniac 1
Bigg Brother Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Add Ishant Sharma and Younis Khan. Don't know why people are putting Dravid's name.. He was pleasing to eyes..Playing at snail's pace doesn't mean he was boring. nevada, AuxiliA, Lord and 1 other 4

nevada Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Graham Gooch and Allan Border are a must in any boring X1! Both tough as nails sonsabitches who never backed down from a battle, but boring to watch.

Moreover, he became an attacking ODI batsman after taking up keeping duties. maniac 1
