Hooda can be used against spin. Samson is also good against spin.  There are many options to do that role. Only role that we miss is finisher.  Even in the IPL finisher were exclusively foreigners except DK. In 20th over alone  DK has scored 71 runs in 23 balls  in IPL 2022. Average of close to 18 runs in the last over.  That is a special skill we may need use of.

Pant is one of my favourite players and to have him dumped from the team is absolutely disgraceful and only destroys this guys confidence.

 

How Kohli can remain in the team and Pant be dropped is typical of the bullshit that is Indian Cricket.

Has he replicated that in T20Is. Got enough chances. Been on and off

As much as I like Pant, don't think that DK playing is a bad thing. 

 

We need a finisher who can hit from ball one. DK fits the bill in the short run. The team has picked him for that specific role. 

 

Also Jadeja needs to play because he gives us a good 6th bowling option and can also bat in the top 5 as a lefty. Axar, Ashwin, Hooda, etc can't fill his roles.

Come on he still holds the youtube record for maximum views and made SLC board richer :) He has won 2 man of the matches since his return.  He more often than not faces 10 or 15 balls. So failure rate will be extremely high.  Samson even in good batting position very inconsistent. And also he takes a lot of balls to get going. So is Pant.

Who knows a few dropped game and it really brings out the best of Pant in this format too. He was dropped in test matches too before he made a comeback and rest was history.

DK probably will play his last world T20. His last world T20 was back in 2011. Pant will naturally replace him.  He has all the time in the world to adapt himself to T20. At this point i rather want Pant sucks in T20 rather than sucks in Tests.
