Lord Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Shami is definitely a surprising and a bad selection They bet big on Avesh, gave him all the backing and then had nowhere to go.
putrevus Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Most of guys who are saying Shami is not needed now were crying after 2019 semi finals on why he was not included over Bhuvi. It was perfect day for swing bowlers then also. Not selecting Shami is not a mistake but not having another express fast bowler in place of either Ashwin or Hooda is a blunder. You need additional fast bowler in the squad ,

Simple records state that. Formats are lot different. Can't mix them.

AKane Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 I want to see Warner against the mighty Bhuvaneshwar....the swing will do in Warner. But.... but..... the ball does not swing much in Australia. Never mind - this is the mighty Bhuvaneshwar and he will get Warner types. Then there will be the peerless KL versus Starc and Cummins types - just a mouthwatering contest. raki05 1
AKane Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Side by side comparison of India vs Aus squad ( because India is India and Aus are current champions - if we matchup with them at home, we kind of have it ... don't we?) /sarc on Advantage Rohit Warner Tie Peerless KL Finch India - I mean come on.... the "peerless" one Kohli Marsh India SKY Smith Tie - Smith is just getting old. Hooda Maxwell Tie - Maxwell as old as Smith Pant Wade India Hardik Stoinis India Mighty Bhuvaneshwar Cummins India - Mighty Bhuvi is T20 "specialist" now.... as per general thought Chahar Starc Tie - Starc may be better bowler but Chahar is a T20 specialist. Chahal/Ashwin Zampa Tie - Chahal/Ashwin better bowlers but Zampa may be better fielder Bumrah Hazlewood India /sarc off N.B. Please don't use this for betting and take with grain of salt.

Shami has played 17 T20I career in his international career which is 10 years old. 17 games is not a small sample , he has played only that coz whenever he has played he has been so terrible that his own team has been hurt. Even his IPL career has never helped his case A batsman getting out on 0 doesnt hurt his team as much as a bowler leaking runs at high rate 20 hours ago, Majestic said: I know he is trash in death overs but if you look at my team, I picked him in the squad instead of Harshal who himself is not an all conditions bowler. Harshal is a gun at death and their is nothing to prove he is not all condition. Slower balls work in all conditons ,ifanything they work well in Aus coz of the size of boundaries which is why their slower ball experts have struggled in IPL coz here boundaries arent that big on most venues 20 hours ago, Majestic said: We have Arshdeep and Bumrah for death overs and Bhuvi as new ball bowler. Death overs is not a concern. Harshal is currently an unknown entity overseas and we don't know how he will do in Australia. It is better to keep him in the reserves rather than in squad. For all bowlers its simple if you bowl well ull do well 20 hours ago, Majestic said: If Shami or Siraj was going to be 4th pacer, we are better prepared for Australian conditions rather than having Harshal. At the moment, we are going with a completely unknown entity in Australia in our 15. 20 hours ago, Majestic said: A pace attack of Bhuvi and Arshdeep starting in powerplays is not good enough. Arshdeep has never proved anything in the powerplays and if there is no swing in Australia, watch Bhuvi getting smacked with his 130 kph innocuous medium pace. PP - Bhuvi+hardik+ bumrah + axar +Arsh +ashwin (if he plays) So it wont be bhuvi and arshdeep alone If their is no swing well how do u expect shami to do well whose best IPL season came when pitches had so much to offer.................rest he was trash even in Aus . Bhuvi is very eco even if he doesnt find much ...........take a look at his career u think he has played on green mambas whole life . Bhuvi also seams the ball Bhuvi on his worst days also doesnt leak that bad as shami does regulalry. Just check bhuvi IPL career , even in his worst season he never went over 8 eco whereas Shami leaks heavy runs on most days 20 hours ago, Majestic said: If Bhuvi does well, it is alright but if he doesn't, you have no one to look at as a new bowl option in that 15 man squad. if he doesnt well how come guys who didnt do well in 1st place to earn a spot will do better. Its just a grass is greener on other side syndrome

One bowler which looked million dollar against a pressure match in Pakistan is now out, while the collar chewing leggie who was bowling wide leg spins to Iftikhar and Nawaz was selected. Same washed up Bhuvi is selected back again, who was treated like a galli mohalla bowler by Shanaka and Asif during the crucial 19th over, if he had given around 10 runs in both the games would have been interesting. Hopefully the return of Bumrah will give some respite to Arshdeep. Massive respect for Ash, though I don't expect much from him in Australia, he still offer something with the bat so I am not complaining. However, Pant and Hooda are bad selections, one because he can't figure out T20 game yet, other because he don't have any benefit if he bats at no 7. I am not very hopeful for T20 WC as I have 0 expectations from this team. Unless Bumrah finds the form, this team will be toasted again. I don't give a damn about our pace stocks... As these guys were pretty much sure to play. But damn Bishnoi's exclusion hurts. In every universe he is better option than faltu Chahal. That Afg game was proper scam to bench him. Chahal's fluke wickets after phainty in 2 overs vs SL was just proper bad luck for Ind cricket. Nobody remembers the guy got tonked so badly in Aus by Smith & Co in Sydney that his ODI career was almost over... Curse on Indian cricket that man singhvivek141 1
rollingstoned Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 (edited) Squad was along expected lines but considering that there are 6 matches to be played before the first match of the tournament expect some changes due to injuries or fitness issues by then. People who were expecting some left field selections eg Umran, Rahul tripathi and conplaining now are living in cloud cuckoo land. Tbf the selectors announced many unexpected names during the last edition of the tournament but it was of no use and guys like Varun C and rahul chahar are quite rightly consigned to oblivion now. If I had to make changes I would have found a way to include both Siraj and Samson in the squad or at least the reserves and played Bishnoi instead of Ashwin since Chahal was never going to be sat out after how much he has been backed and we need wrist spin options more than finger spin ones. Curse on Indian cricket that man We're becoming a joke now in shorter formats, we have batsman who stuggle against left arm swing, we get stuck against spin, pacers who don't have pace and even our spinners are mediocre. Forget about Hasranga or Rashid Khan, even mediocre spinners like Shadab, Nawaz are performing better than our specialist Chahal with ball (not to mention their additional skills with bat and field). rollingstoned 1
cric_fan Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Seeing Bumrah’s name there makes a huge difference to this side. Looks much more balanced.
