John: "There's little doubt that Wade did obstruct Wood there. It looked like the umpire explicitly asked Buttler if he wanted to appeal and the answer was no"

Hope someone runs Buttler out repeatedly at the non striker's end. Let him keep yapping about "spirit of cricket". This is Dhoni level stubbornness. Just because he took a stand he is encouraging blatant violation

I think he's afraid of being called a hypocrite because of his stance against Mankading, although this isn't similar at all

England won the match. If they had lost, I am not sure this issue would have been talked about as benignly by them. I wonder what the umpire's role is in all this. Shouldn't he declare the batsman out for such a blatant act of cheating?

Umpire asked England if they were appealing and Buttler said no so he can't do anything

For all the niceties in his heart, he expects Aussie to reciprocate and play fairly. They will cheat on the first opportunity they get. Tab aati hain samaj. Remember Syd 2008 when Ponting turned umpire

What the * does duration of the trip have to do with you appealing for someone blatantly obstructing the field? You either are in agreement with it being obstruction or not.

These English cricketers really need to get off their high horses and not try to preach others. They all had a chance to refuse to accept THAT overthrow, but we all know how that ended.

That's false. Stokes put up his hands and refused to run. However, once it crossed the boundary it automatically registers as a 4. You are not allowed to refuse the runs. It's not the same as not actively appealing.

it maybe a false assumption but if one chooses the path of sainthood then you obviously go outside the rule book and demand for “justice”; which is what these English saints did not do.

Do you recall MSD’s numptiness for example? A batsman who was given out was recalled after a tea break. I am sure that it is certainly not part of the rule book.

Calling back a batsman has precedent as a batsman is only out given an appeal. you cannot refuse a boundary in cricket. That's an automatic decision
