Yuvraj vs Ashwin

This is not the first Yuvi has taken a dig at Ashwin. This time he got trolled big time. He had to do some damage control with another tweet which didn't go very well. You don't call someone out for dropped catch. Kohli has dropped several catches. Match where he dropped Baz at 9 went on to make 300. so many players are going to drop in this world T20. But he didn't waste opportunity to target Ashwin.  I am not sure if it is because Ashwin replaced Harbhajan. But there is some undercurrent always.  I am glad Ashwin is not really engaging in this.  More recently after Arshdeep dropped the catch Yuvi backed him.

There was a period when Kohli used to miss catches every game, but still these ex-cricketers/experts never pointed that out, in fact doubled down by calling him great catcher and what not. Tried to hide his shortcomings etc. 

 

Never seen them analyze Chahal's fielding/catching as well....that guy deliberately runs away from the ball to ensure ball never carries to him. What to call that?

 

Different standards for different players I guess.

For Ashwin's usual standard/athleticism that was a decent attempt, at least effort was there. In his place Chahal wouldn't have taken one step forward, simply waited for ball to come to him at one bounce...Karpov once said about Fischer (after talks for 1975 match fell through) that 'he who never plays never loses', applicable to Chahal. Also the so called caught and bowled chance was struck so firmly that one can say the bowler saved couple of runs for his team, those ones either stick or don't....just like that Rohit 'dropped catch' in the same over.

Right after Ashwin rolled over Australia or some side he said something like in these pitches Bhajji, Kumble would have taken 1000 wickets or something lol He doesn't even hide it.  Ashwin said thank you and kept quiet.

Quite regrettable coming from Yuvi. Glad Ashwin has done a well left on this matter because old grouses aren't the most positive things to occupy one's mind with.

I think Yuvi is better than this but as we know Human is hypocrite animal and in this age of social media you can't hide you bias and hypocrisy. Ashwin needs to field better though, he should not be placed in deep fielding positions..

Shan was damn lucky that innings, missed run out, dropped catches, that spider cam interference (ball going straight to Hardik), edges etc.

That Kohli missed run out was a much easier one...  He had all 3 stumps to aim with much closer distance. 

We know Ashwin is a terrible fielder but that was a decent attempt by his standards.  Chahal is not some Jonty Rhodes either...  At least Ashwin takes catches off his own bowling...  Chahal never takes one. 

Plus those winning runs by Ash are bigger than what Chahal has achieved in his career.

I don't think Yuvi has any hidden vendetta against Ashwin particularly. He is just a bit reactive and very brash. He was bashing management along with Kohli after our 2019 exit. He even tweeted that Kohli thinks top 3 are very strong so no need of a batsman after number 4 so they are playing Vijay Shankar at no. 4 in all important wc whose highest score is 46.

True but we did win the match ,had we lost then we would have scrutinized all the missed chances like Kohli missing a sitter of a runout ,the Ashwin chance and what not .

That Catch which arshdeep dropped would have been taken by himself 99/100 ,that led to Pakistan winning the match as Asif Ali smashed us the next over, we could have had a 3-0 hold over pakitsan by now. I still can't get over how he dropped that dolly !!

Ashwin is a legend based on that Rearguard action in the Sydney test alone !!

Not to mention the last ball bye. First DK missed three stumps from 3 or 4 yards. Then Bhuvi missed three stumps from 2 yards. There was never a bye. But they stole 2 byes in the last ball. Shambolic accuracy from all 3. Kohli, DK, Bhuvi.
