vvvslaxman Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 An inexperienced player won't say like this. Curse of experience. They throw their whole career at us even though hardly achieved anything. Indian bowling failed 3 times in a row defending 4th innings totals. Exited before reaching the final in 3 tournaments in a row. If you think you have no more scope for improvement then you don't live in reality. rollingstoned, Vijy and raki05 3
zen Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 New players in NZ should not be playing to prove to others but focus on giving their best on the field. He spoke about rectifying the errors too and moving on.

Pandya is not wrong, they don't have to prove it to outsiders. I also don't think they are not sad that they have lost. They tried their best but it was not to be. Coach and selectors are more answerable than players. I don't think you can call that as arrogance. Edited November 16, 2022 by putrevus sandeep 1

Even after that, they chose not to play attacking shots in situations where required. I am certain they are not sad that they lost. 2 -3 games are enough to prove your top order is not capable. Arrogance did not let them try new players also after the failure in 2-3 games. Tell me why a SKY cannot come at 3 or even up. Because the top 3 are arrogant. Frustrated 1
coffee_rules Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 (edited) Wrong choice of words? Nah, But he has chosen to say it earlier before the WC in the Ireland tour. https://cricket.one/news/news-details/62e146bd3094a4d5d6dacf1e/i-m-not-here-to-prove-anything-to-anybody-hardik-pandya Edited November 17, 2022 by coffee_rules raki05 1
cricketfan28 Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 May be his way of dealing with the pressure, but shouldn't have said it bluntly.

They persisted with the same inept unit for all the matches. I don't they lost because of it. India miraculously topped the group and made it to semis. Same England lost last year being unable to put an above par score. It is not about answering Vaughan. But answering Indian fans. Texan and raki05 2

Why would any player not play WC.If you are a player and your coach and captain select you in the team, you will play . It is coach and captain's fault for not trying other players. Ask the coach all your questions.

That is utter nonsense that they have to win world cup. Many great players have not won world cups like Malcolm Marshall, Curtly Ambrose. Other questions are for the coach and captain. Pandya is not responsible.

But playing 10 dot balls in a T20 after you have been selected and to do it repeatedly, that has to be on the individual player

Majestic Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Read the whole statement. He didn't sounded arrogant there.

He has no right to be coach and Rohit has no right to be captain. A player cannot have leverage over a coach or a captain. Yes a player can be backed during tough times but I mentioned this already world cup is not the place to show loyality.

I cannot read much into the role of the coach. The leverage of a player comes from his sponsors, broadcasters and his demand. By performance and approach, I am sure even you will agree Rahul, Rohit should find no place in the t20 team. Kohli and Pandya debatable at least.

Rohit was first name on the list for many people here before the start of the t20 . For me sacking of Kohli was wrong and the way idiot Ganguly approached that issue was much more idiotic. IPL captaincy and Indian captaincy are totally diiferent. I never thought Rohit would be better captain than Kohli. You are 100 percent right Rahul should have never played semi final after his earlier debacles. It was sheer stupidty on Dravid and Rohit's part to select this bozo. Second thing every Indian cricket fan and administrators like Ganguly need to realize , India never had great t20 team since 2007.Few Individual players carried them to what ever wins they have achieved so far. India has not yet cracked modern t20 code.More population does not equate into more talent. Edited November 16, 2022 by putrevus

India has not yet cracked modern t20 code.More population does not equate into more talent. India's proble is not cracking the code. It is cracking in ICC events. India has been no.1 ranked T20 side for a while. They have beaten England in 4 back to back T20 series. England has outplayed all the sides both in bilaterals and world events in T20 for the last 6 or 7 years except India. It is India who have outplayed England both in T20 and ODI. Only problem with india is India never had the fool proof line up. They always had one-dimensional players. Bowlers who can't bat batsmen who can't bowl. India never built a side for "just-in-case" scenario. No depth in either batting or bowling. It forces India to play near perfect game in every match against every team in every condition. Not possible. Either in T20 or ODi. If India persists with one-dimensional unit in One dayers India will not ODI ICC event as well for a long time.
Mesky99 Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Pandya is right, it's a team run by a private organisation, they dont need to prove anything to anyone bar bcci, this team is made up of overpaid superstars, each player carries a huge brand and bcci mints from them, they know Indian fans will turn up to watch games, viewership will only increase, it's upto the fans, bring back the old days when these overrated overpaid Indian cricketers were grilled when they performed badly Lord, khadekhademaaro and raki05 3

If you look closely in those series, there were matches where England outbatted India. England if their batting fires no team in the world has answer to them. Key to beating England IMO is have better bowlers but India failed there. In any given series India always has a chance as they can make a comeback but in one off matches where as you correctly pointed out if they don't play near perfect game they will not win.Choking has grown with this bunch with each failure they are becoming more scared to lose. Till 2005- 2011 Indian batting had the more firepower than many teams in odis.If Indian batting clicked they would beat anyone. We cannot say that now they simply don't have any firepower. They are full of accumulators and idiots like Rahul. Do we have firepower in the shed? I don't think so. I don't believe Samson or Shaw are the answer.I don't even know they can handle fast bowling. Will India become like South Africa with many players who not even of international quality?
