Even foreigners play in it. Why shouldn’t bumrah play ? A cricketer shelf life is short. If not for MI bumrah would be no where near Indian cricket. Edited January 9, 2023 by gattaca
putrevus Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Today news is why I said his days as top flight fast bowler are over.He plays too much to be fit for next 5 years. Now he might walk into BG test matches without any match practice. Why not take it easy and play one or two ranji games where his workload could be managed. nevada and SRT100 1 1
speedracer Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 (edited) Back udd gaya. Sab gaya. He will come back strong hopefully. He will be back to bowling 135-145 in tests. He will still have bounce. But he needs to cut t20 bilaterals, odi completely ans just play WCs, big tests and ipeeeeyelll. If the bounce factor is gone then he will become like a Waqar Younis post back injury. 133-142 bowler who may be good in England SA w indies and maybe aus but bad in Asia and nz. Without bounce it may be hard to do well in aus actually. Edited January 9, 2023 by speedracer

zen Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 If I am not wrong, Bumrah wasn't even in Guwahati for the 1st ODI despite being in the squad. Was he expected to join later in the series is something we will not know. May comeback for the NZ ODIs.

Im fairly sure a few of the WI greats also played in the local state comp in Australian Sheffield Shield. Didnt a WI batsman play once in Ranji Trophy? Rohan Kallicharan. Vijy 1

My preference is the former as it takes all the pressure and stress of him. express bowling 1
tapandrun Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) Ind should look beyond Bhumra now and their Wc2023 planning should be such that they do not have Bhumra at the core. Bhumra seems be going in same injury trajectory as Bhuvi where teams does not know when he is fit and when he is not. Since 2019 he is having too many reoccurring injuries, also since 2019 there seems to be a decrease in his top speeds, at onetime he was hitting 150 kmph but not so often now. His Yorker also seems to be not producing the same results Edited January 10, 2023 by tapandrun
singhvivek141 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 It's a shame that BCCI for all that money, couldn't hire the specialists who can actually take care of their own players. But as expected, there is no accountability and everyone is just earning their fat cheques without doing any extra work. express bowling and BacktoCricaddict 1 1

Bumrah has enough money and people around him to get treated on his own if he thinks BCCI is not doing right with him. Big picture is his body is fragile and cannot withstand the workload.

Not an expert. But my thoughts are a bit different. Given the poor record of injury management by the NCA in the last 5 years or so ( the person in charge is said to be not that good ), I get the feeling that his injury has not been managed properly. The last time Bumrah had back issues, he personally sought external help and recovered in just over 4 months. While pacers like Bhuvi, Nagarkoti, Mavi, Chahar, who have relied on the NCA for injury management, have struggled for a very long time and keep getting injured again. Bumrah needs to seek external help and assess the status of his injury first. Only after being really sure that he is fully fit should he come back. The mode of coming back should depend on what games are scheduled at that point of time. SRT100, BacktoCricaddict, Mosher and 1 other 1 3

IMO, Indian team has tried to manage Bumrah's workload properly. He has been rested in many home test series. But even then it is not possible for a fast bowler to handle his workload playing all formats and IPL. We are seeing the effects of that workload on Rabada. Bumrah has to decide after this worldcup to just quit other two formats and play just tests and IPL. Majestic and singhvivek141 2
