You could easily leave out the bowlers and allrounders in this search by choosing batting positions of 1 to 6 This will give a clearer view and clearly show how poor Rahul has been. Even Rahane. And we had both playing together a short time back. SandeepMotta, SRT100 and Number 1 2

Im sure it was like in 2021 he mentioned this? express bowling 1
Adamant Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 I rate both Murali Vijay and Rahul higher than Rahane for sure. SandeepMotta 1
rkt.india Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Rahul has 20 50+ score in 45 tests which is not bad for an opener but he has too many low scores that hurt his batting average and he has played a lot overseas. comparing openers with middle order batsmen is also not right.
deepdynamo Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Quite clearly its Rahul, Rahane and Vijay and all of those played in the last 10 years for India.

R!TTER Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 They aren't unimportant but scoring runs away, especially in the top order is more so. Just on the back of my head I can remember KL doing extremely well against Eng/Oz in 2016/17 - in fact KL was by far the best batter vs Oz, Pujara second best & Rahane third best better in that series! The * did Brat do in that series Likewise RJ, Ashwin, Saha, Dhawan & Vijay played some crucial roles at home in the 2016/17 season. If you aren't going to bring context to umbers than quoting them is total BS. Likewise Pujara, Rahane, Pant's runs in 2020/21 Oz tour were more valuable than the 2018/19 series because of the conditions in which they scored them!
zen Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 From the top of the mind recall among those who played most of their cricket in the 21st century, RRR: Rahane, Rohit, & Rahul

I remember when he was performing poorly in 2018, he was still given chances due to high potential but what he needed at that time was a break to work on his technical flaws so he kept failing and ultimately was dropped. That must have hurt his record. Either way, Rahul or Vijay or Rahane are your worse batsman because their career average is less than 40. Rahane is a middle order batsman who had great first away tour in 2013-14 but he lost his way from 2016 onwards and was poor overseas too since then barring that one Melbourne knock in 2020. At home, he is one of our worst batsman. However, a point to note here is Vijay played 61 tests only and that's not too much for an opener averaging 38-39 in their career. Unlike Rahane, he didn't got like 90 matches before getting dropped. Rahane has an average of 38 after that many games.
vvvslaxman Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 You have to suck off the charts to be below Rahane lol

R!TTER Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Statistically KL is the worst but he also faced the most tough conditions, opening away in 2018, if you take that one year away though he's not that far away from Rahane < Pujara < Kohli. I would judge him 2-3 years down the line, when he has had a consistent run in tests or dropped for non performance. If you don't recall we had this debate in 2018 as well that how was thigh slapper allowed to sneak in over in form KL for the away tours, just because he was buddy with Brat! Not to mention thigh slapper is also a serial dropper, he *ing dropped the game in second innings of first test vs Eng Umesh Yadav to Rashid, no run 40.4Dropped at first slip by Dhawan! Rashid drives a full delivery that swings away, going straight to first slip but DK moved across and did he put Dhawan off? Almost had it at the second grab as well
chewy Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Rohit Sharma - and whats worse he managed con his way to captaincy Ro & Ko - two cancers on Indian cricket created undroppable celebrity culture, and top it off both have never won anything meaningful in their heydays, whilst their rivals Smith, Root, Williamson have World Cups/Championships. zen and Bigg Brother 2
