Paradoxically if kl rahul was a good wk surya would have played in the test 11 in place of pant which would have been ideal. But because Kl is just an ok wicketkeeper he is keeping out Surya by plying his trade as an odi wk..

shreyas gopal recently scored a 100 i guess in ranji. He never got a chance to play for india..

SKY in the Test series vs Australia would be a wonderful tactical move vs Australia if it works.

It would help negate the loss of Pant so much too.

 

I still would rather SKY over Fatman, Kohli and KL in the Test team.

He's there as an attacking option, kinda likely to compensate for the loss of Pant. IK is in the squad for same reason, if we need more batting would be interesting to see who they include (or exclude) & whether KL can keep wickets!

Washington Sundar have been picked because you could make him bat at 6 assuming Bharat is keeping( would bat at 7) and Shreyas is batting at 5. At the moment, they have Jadeja for no.6 spot but Sundar could be a backup option too.

Bro, I really want this too.  But noticing that he hasn't played any Ranji matches.  Do you have any update on Sen's fitness status ?

Like ....

 

1.  No Arshdeep in ODIs. He does not have a good enough good length ball and this is needed in the 2 longer formats.

 

2. No Shardul in Tests in Asia. He won't work here. 

 

3. No Harshal or Bhuvi in T20Is.

 

4.  Umran picked for both ODIs and T20Is.

 

5.  Three proper quicks in ODIs. 

 

 

Dislike ....

 

1.  Mukesh Kumar in T20Is.  We don't need another short medium pacer. 

 

2.  No Kuldeep Sen in any squad. (  unless he is still injured. )

 

 

Overall ....

 

A lot of wrongs have been corrected.  Given the fact that so many proper quicks are injured, these are good enough selections.

Shaw, Mayank, Sundar are out of test team even after performing at international stage.

Not sure what Mayank has done wrong. In Indian conditions, he can actually play spin. But of course, we have to play has beens like Kohli

Don't have any updates bro. He had posted few pics in NCA few days back. Maybe he is not fully fit yet.

They haven't performed in tests for a whole, in case of Shaw a really *ing long time, while Mayank was a walking wicket against pacers last 2 years & Sundar largely injured. Among the three Sundar deserves the most because of what he brings to the table, but the team has likely been selected after taking inputs from the TM - no way this team was preferred without inputs from RGS or Dravid
