Chakdephatte
Everybody deserves a debut in zero pressure. Due to WTC, now we always have points table pressure. With half of the series in overseas, it adds more. Unfortunately not the right time. Both Rohit and Kohli should be out after after this cycle, wouldn't complain if it happens earlier too. Bangladesh was good time for Sarfaraz, that's a missed opportunity. Edited January 18, 2023 by Chakdephatte putrevus 1 Link to comment

Sarfaraz is "yo-yo fit" apparently, just like Rohit is. Sure he is horrifyingly fat but again, this team is literally lead by Rohit and has Shardul in place of Umran today. express bowling and eulbninem 2 Link to comment
express bowling
Sarfraz averages 80 in FC with a SR of 70 This after 36 FC games. These are surreal numbers. And if you see him bat, he looks top class against both pace and spin. Should be picked. rollingstoned, nevada, tweaker and 5 others 8 Link to comment

Texan
Not picking Sarfaraz in the squad is a shame and a slap in the face for the Ranji Trophy. If Test teams are going to be picked on the basis of T20 performances, then why even have a Ranji Trophy? Let everyone just play IPL. Surprisingly, when it came to Unadkat's selection, there was talk about how he performed in domestics and made a comeback. Well, Sarfaraz has done more than anybody else in domestic cricket in the last two years and consistently scored against a variety of opponents. He should have been picked during Bangladesh tour itself. I feel like there is some political influence holding him back here. Possibly,, the superstars of Indian cricket who rake in so much money via their marketing campaigns fear that Sarfaraz might end up replacing them in the Test team and reduce their revenue flow. Otherwise, there is no reason why he shouldn't be in the squad. Vickydev, Vk1, putrevus and 1 other 1 3 Link to comment

I am glad at least one media outlet (albeit a tabloid) has started calling selectors out on this. I hope few more follow. raki05, Vk1, themask and 1 other 4 Link to comment
figo6762
Bull **** Sarfaraz should play any other country …. Whether he will succeed on the big stage or not will be question just like every one elder making a debut .. but he deserves a shot .,, Link to comment
prudent_kreeda
Why he is not putting up runs when included in IND A team ? in last 6 IND A Test appearances he has just 2 50+ scores . If we compare the same with Shaw , Gill they have scored tons of runs , even double hundreds when they were playing for A teams . Even Rajat Patidar made a daddy ton & another ton vs NZ A game . A better showing in IND A would have made it very easier to get to Test eleven. Anyway he is very near for a debut i feel, would be in 16 when team gets announced for last 2 tests. When was India's last A tour? It's little harsh on players to perform in limited A matches they get. He may do it next time. Link to comment
rollingstoned
BCCI selector breaks silence on Sarfaraz Khan's repeated Team India snubs: 'While picking a team, we have to...' Story by HT Sports Desk • 4h ago Team India will return to action in Test cricket next month when the side takes on the mighty Australians in a four-match series. It will be India's last series in the World Test Championship cycle; the side is currently second in the table and is primed for a spot in the final, where it will likely have a rematch with Australia in June. The squad for the first two Tests of the series was announced last week, with star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja making a return to the team after over four months. However, there was one noticeable absence in the squad – that of Sarfaraz Khan. The Mumbai batter is knocking the doors for Indian selection with a series of exceptional performances in domestic cricket; many expected Sarfaraz to receive a maiden India call-up for the Border-Gavaskar trophy but the BCCI selectors snubbed him again. Sridharan Sharath, one of the members of BCCI's five-member national selection panel, has now broken silence on Sarfaraz's continual absence from the team. He stated that while the 25-year-old remains on the radar for selection, ‘team composition’ is a priority for the selectors. “He is certainly on our radar. In due course, he will get his due. While picking the team, we have to consider things like composition and balance,” Sharath told Sportstar. Sarfaraz has hit three centuries for Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji season so far, including a 125 in the side's last match against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. His first ton of the season came against Hyderabad, as he had remained unbeaten on 126. Against Tamil Nadu, Sarfaraz scored an important 162 as he bailed Mumbai out of trouble in the first innings; the side was reeling at 161/6 when Sarfaraz forged a 167-run stand with Tanush Kotian (71). Mumbai eventually ended their innings on 481 as the match ended in a draw. Sarfaraz is not a part of Mumbai's XI as they take on Maharashtra in the final match of Group B. What balance was or would Sarfaraz disturb in a team and batting order that is anyway not making enough runs as it is? raki05 1 Link to comment
