ash Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Practically impossible to replace Axar with the **** top order and the keeper we have. SRT100 1
helperononline Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Siraj will be dropped for Kuldeep K l rahul will play will full series hopefully he will not be selected after that
Lord Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Rohit Iyer Jaddu Axar Ashwin Shami play gully cricketers for rest of XI and we'll still have decent chance. Norman, sensible-indian, Gollum and 2 others 5
SRT100 Posted February 20, 2023 Author Posted February 20, 2023 Can someone fill me in about the next pitch at Indore? Slow, low turner? India must play just one pace bowler, Siraj bowled just 10 overs. Shami 16. I have no issue playing both of them against other teams in India, but its just a waste playing them vs Australia. We need Kuldeep in this team, but cant drop Axar given our batting issues. India could have easily lost this match. There were several times Australia had control of the match. The best part of Kuldeep is that Australia have not been exposed to him so far, so he is an ace up our sleeve. This is what I want. 1. Rohit 2. Gill 3. Shreyas 4. Kohli 5. SKY 6. Kishan 7. Jadeja 8. Axar 9. Ashwin 10. Kuldeep 11. Shami I think this is the team that will be played. 1. Rohit 2. Gill 3. Pujara 4. Kohli 5. Iyer 6. Kishan 7. Jaddu 8. Axar 9. Ashwin 10. Kuldeep 11. Shami

Shami i disagree.both Shami and Siraj are bowling well and more importantly are getting early breakthroughs and are really unlucky not to get more.it makes the job of our spinners easier if they are 2 down when they start to operate.i would only play 4 spinners on a rank turner and i dont think Indore has that kind of pitch.

First and foremost, is the pitch, if isnt a slow low turner, then its totally fine to play both pace bowlers. However if it is, then Kuldeep making way for Siraj is the way to go. Kuldeep also strengthens our batting as well. The type of pitch on offer is the determining factor of whether we play two pace bowlers. Siraj bowled just 8 overs in the first test, and 10 overs in the last match. He has only bowled 1 over in the 2nd innings of both matches. Im not dropping him for Kuldeep, but rather another attacking option given the pitch. If the Indore pitch is blown up, playing Kuldeep for Siraj is the way to go.

They would want to give batsmen some confidence before the final

Unless the pitch has lot of bounce/grass there's no need to play him next test. SRT100 1

If we bat first, there will be even a last of a need for Siraj on a Day 2 or 3 pitch. Kuldeep for Siraj really strengthens us.

They dropped their fast bowler for SLA who didn’t make an impact at all. We already three spinners and axar is under bowled already. What is the use of kuldeep ? This is bad strategy.

I don't think that it will strengthen much. 3rd and 4th spinner are not useful if it's a dustbowl since they will be underbowled. my suggestion is to bring in kishan or SKY for siraj. this will strengthen batting. in the given 15-man squad, this would be XI in the following batting order for a dustbowl (although it will never happen) Kishan [can tonk cummer and starc on low bounce tracks] Gill [can play pace better than spin] rohit [best home batter at 3] Kohli iyer SKY Jaddu Axar Bharath [better keeper than kishan] Ashwin Shami Batting till 10; 3 spinners + 1 pacer + part-time of iyer

Im not completely opposed to use going in with just 1 pacer and 3 spinners and strengthening our batting. Ultimately its making the best use of our resources practically speaking, ie 11 players.

Gollum Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Kohli got a double in Indore 2016 against NZ, Rahane almost a double, Vijay and Che 100s The other test there Mayank got 240 something. Think runs will be on offer. I want us to break Australia this match, hope for 5 days action, loads of runs, and physically/mentally crush them. Vijy 1
vvvslaxman Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Red soil. More bounce. Kuldeep will be a factor. But do we need that many spinners if Ashwin/Jaddu can bowl as well as they do? India can do away with a seamer.

Everyone in Australian side has phd in batting on flat tracks. rangeelaraja and SRT100 1 1

I think curators will try and do something to make it more spin friendly. on flatter tracks, Oz can outperform us, much like Eng did in chennai

Jaddu and Axar are similar. If the track is a slow low turner, its the right decision to make way for Kuldeep for Siraj. Australia got on top of us in the last hour on Day 2 and scored comfortably against Ash and Jaddu. I think this is where Kuldeep would have been useful. Im excited about the 3rd Test, KL dropped and possibly Kishan coming for Bharat would be good too.
speedracer Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 (edited) 100% 2 pacers is a must. Against tail and openers you need pacers. Edited February 20, 2023 by speedracer

Gill for KL Kuldeep for Axar Yadav for Siraj. Fatman Gill Pujara Kohli Iyer Kishan Jaddu Ash Kuldeep Shami Yadav Axar wont be dropped. Only available option to play Kuldeep is if we have one pace bowler. Also S Bharat will be given a long rope to prepare him for WTC. Kishan will be like a dozed dear under headlights facing starc cummins hazlewood in England. Max Gill for KL. That too I dont have much hope. Vijy 1
