Only a person who does not understand cricket and or medicine would talk about Bumrah playing in the WC.

 

For starters you dont play a player that is very very underdone in  a WC tournament. Secondly its a back injury, he will need time to heal, recover and strengthen his muscles.

At least with Bumrah I am more confident of him coming back to the Indian side say either end of the year or in 2024. Much prefer 2024.

V.much a possibility, before his first back injury he was bowling good amount of ball at 145+kmph and some even at 150+ in tests.

 

After the comeback his pace his not same, do not think he ever touched 150s in test.

he went from genuine fast to semi-fast to fast-medium.

the problem is Bumrah was always too skinny to have a convential action to bowl 145K plus consistently... so his actual bowling action trying to ball at that pace eventually cost his back and his future... i mean we had a good 3/4 year run with him lets just accept that and assume our pace culture is actually dead

Good that these clowns eventually decided on that surgery.

 

Also, he needs to think of increasing his run-up. Compared to other changes, this is the easiest to implement.  Lot's of bowlers have done that / made adjustments to their run-up. (Brett Lee / Mark Wood etc)

That might increase his pace even more.

I am very happy that Bumrah has been advised surgery at last. It was delayed for too long because they wanted even a half cooked Bumrah to save their asses. 

 

Hope to see him back after he recovers fully. Let the timeline for that be decided by his surgeon and other medical professionals helping him outside the NCA instead of administrators and the TM. 

 

I don't like the negativity in this thread regarding the final outcome of his surgery. Hope to see him bowl 135 k to 145 k atleast. Many fast bowlers have done this after back surgeries.

 

But he should not be rushed back for the WC 2023 against his Doctors' advice. That would be a disaster again.

What asses did Bumrah save for any Indian team.I don't think any captain or coach would want to put career of any player at risk.

Bumrah has been our best pacer in test match history. By a country mile. He completely changed the face of Indian pace bowling from 2018 to 2021. 

 

And he is the only reliable death ball bowler we have in white ball cricket. Only one !

 

Sad to see that some people can't understand why TMs want him badly !

Noone is denying that Bumrah is the best pacer we have produced but let us hold horses on turning him into some superman.He has always come up up short in big spots.Second thing no TM would want to jeopardize his career.

TMs don't want to jeopardize careers of needed players by choice. But focusing on short term needs and missing the long term picture is very common.

 

And nobody is claiming that Bumrah is a superman. He has weaknesses but averaging 22 with the ball after 30 tests means he has saved some asses.

Injury and recovery situation has been worsening for some time now. BCCI medical team or who ever is doing the assessments are not able to figure-out if the player needs a surgery or not is a concern.

 

He is Ind's top bowler  and he is handled like this imagine what would be happening at domestic and lower levels. No wonder all the upcoming bowler are not able to play a full season and are out of injury most of the times.

 

They even donot know if the player is fit or not, its not like stiffness or some muscle ache which medical staff can not assess properly , if something needs surgery then it should be obvious from the starting. I understand its hard to find appointments with top sports doctors/surgeon  and players have to wait but this is entirely a case of incompetency. 

 

They played around Shaha's injury , then Pandya's injury now Bumrah.
