Number Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) Is it really the case that this guy is the best WK in the country after Pant. Or it is that TM management really loves him for some other reason ? Edited June 9, 2023 by Number
RajBan Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Speaks volumes of our selection committee and team management. Surely we have better keeper batsmen in our domestics.

Prabhdeep Singh Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 He is a politics based selection. Samson should have been picked. Then maybe Kishan. I don't see the point of a so called 'Good Keeper' if team still conceded 470 on a difficult pitch. Always India should go with players who have flare in batting then their wicket keeping. raki05 and putrevus 2
Lone Wolf Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 A 29 year old journeyman is playing a ICC final for India... Another pseudo quota south based team selection. DK in WT20 & now this clown thanks to galaxy brain Dravid. Give me Prabhsimran Singh over this guy anyday of the week. Even Mallu Samson would have been a upgrade. raki05 1
figo6762 Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Bharat is there to justify a place for hahul.. when hahul comes back they will make him keeper .. the don’t want any other keeper batsman to come in and be successful Lord, raki05, tweaker and 1 other 4
Prabhdeep Singh Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Batting is a premium in especially SENA tours, always pick wicketkeeper on his batting ability.
Nikola Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Have heard someone say always pick wicketkeeper who can bat best and then work on his wicket keeping skills.

sandeep Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Obviously I'm unhappy that India is 200 runs behind in this test - but honestly, I would have been less disappointed if we were in this situation with Ashwin and Kishan playing ahead of Umesh and Bharath. No disrespect to either player.
bowl_out Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Even Saha would have done a better job here. Wonder why he wasn't called in for a one of test even if it didn't mean a long term return. Upendra and Jagadeesan are two potential replacements in the future Lord 1

Kishan, Upendra etc are good but don't have Jurel's ceiling. jurel has also done well in ranjis, although against some weak teams. kushagra is another potentially useful batter-keeper
rkt.india Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 its all about pecking order in the Indian team selections these days. Even the most talented are struggling to breach the pecking order.

Shardul is playing as an alrounder here like Ashwin. So alrounder replaced alrounder. That would have been the case. looking at the kind of trick pitch is playing, playing four seamers was not a bad decision but needed right personnel for that, not Umesh as the third front line seamer.

No way Shardul would have been dropped especially at England
