You select your best fast bowlers.Left or right arm does not matter.

Unadkat is useless and whoever is responsible for his selection should not be working again.

Definitely true for Tests. In ODIs, left arm quicks are extremely valuable and it's seen at every World Cup. Top wicket takers/impact bowlers tend to be left arm quicks.

Julien and Gary Gilmour in '75, Akram in '92 , Vaas' control in 1996, Geoff Allott in 99, Vaas and Zak in 03, Bracken in '07, Zak again in 2011, Starc and Boult in 2015 and in 2019.

It's absolutely worth playing even a half decent left armer in the World Cup atleast.

Do we have even half decent left armers?

The same line of thinking was the reason why this guy was selected over Umesh Yadav in 2011.Umesh might not be great but he is far better than this guy then and even today.

So selecting left arm seamer just for his leftie angle is ridiculous.

Mohsin, Khaleel and Unadkut...they all can't swing the ball in to the right handed batters (atleast I have never seen). They are primary bounce bowlers who deliveries move away from the righties with bounce.

Arshdeep and Mukesh Choudhary are the 2 left armers who can swing the ball in to the righties. Bounce is not their strong forte.

Yash Dayal can do both, though his inswing is less in comparison to Arsh and Mukesh C

Boult is best in the world with new ball, he is not scared to pitch it full and go for wickets. He is no slouch in terms of pace either and is consistently in 135-140 range.

Our pacers who can move the new ball...trundle at 127-132 plus try to stay at back of length so that they don't get smashed by the batters. Arshdeep did in T20 WC what Boult does usually.

Playing Undercutter over Saini made no sense in the first place...  Bechara Siraj only guy who can reverse or bowl Bouncer barrage on this pitch.  I hope he doesn't over exerts himself.

Saini has a mean bouncer...  These WI batsmen are not comfortable at high pace.

Everytime Mark Wood played in WI he blew them apart...  Even won a Test match on his own.

Calling selectors drunkard while recommending bowlers who can bowl just a spell?

ICF never ceases to amaze me.

Khaleel and arshdeep are not one spell bowlers, I can show you spells where they have bowled more than 12 overs in a day. Arsh picked wickets in County cricket n I understand he picked up 4 or 5 wickets also in an innings. Arsh is certain to play Test cricket very soon for India. His stamina won't increase soon but just wait n watch, he will play Tests for India in next 12 months. Mohsin and arsh are our best left arm bets and if they maintain there fitness they will play Tests. Arsh will play soon ... Unadkat is a slow trundler.. I m shocked Ajit has picked him

Left armer who can swing the ball back into the RHB are gold. They are not many who can do it. Starc is prime example , he cannot do it consistently.

Arshdeep is WIP, I was pleasantly surprised but he needs to play more red ball cricket.

Starc cannot do it always,if he did he would have taken 400 plus wicket easily by now with all other attributes he does it occasionally.Arsdeep has to play more red ball cricket.

most of the cases you mentioned, they were not lead bowlers except for some cases. I agree that lefties have more use in LOIs compared to tests; in the latter, the quality is what matters first

Arshdeep does not have a good hard length ball yet. Except his bouncers, he just floats the ball up. Does not hit the deck with his hard length balls.

And, apart from his yorkers, most of his other deliveries are in the 127 k to 137 k range even in T20s, same as Unadkat.  He maybe even slower in the linger formats.

As of now, he is good when the ball swings and not after that.

This does not work in test cricket or ODIs. And as a result his FC stats are ordinary and his Liat A stats are poor.
