Ashwin is just a slightly more intimidating version of Jadeja who intimidates but doesn't add effectiveness with his inclusion. 

 

If Jadeja is your 10 overs, 55 run, 1 wicket bowler then Ashwin is your 10 overs, 50 runs, 1 wicket bowler. Doesn't add much. Bowling is weak here.

I'd play 3 pacers + Hardik. For batting depth, would drop Kuldeep for the spin all-rounder.

 

It's the right way to play but Rohit and co. are quite dumb and very stubborn about part timers so I don't think that will happen

Between the 2, if you have to compromise, you always compromise bowling strength. Batting strength is the biggest indicator of World Cup success.

Yes, it is unfortunate that none of Axar, Jadeja and Thakur are particularly good ODI all rounders, but unfortunately that is our lot and two of them need to play

As others have said, bowling is just too weak. If Shami was in for Ashwin then that is much better, even though 4 pacers in subcontinent feels excessive. Even with Shami, Siraj, Jasprit, Haridk, Kuldeep - as good as the bowling is on paper- we need batting depth and a 6th bowling option

What is the status on Surya's action ? He was reported for chucking in 2014. Was he cleared.

I think Kuldeep is gonna do something special this WC.

 

No way Jaddu, Ash, Axar or Sundar plays ahead of him.

That's what I would play but many here see the bowlers' inability to bat as a big issue.

As RR has shown, an attacking spinner and a defensive spinner can bring a different dimension to the team.

 

However both must be in form.

That's in T20's. Teams are not looking to play specialist 2nd spinners anymore and ours are pretty defensive spinners at least in outcome if not intent.

Actually no. I want to play Shami + Kuldeep + Bumrah + Siraj + Hardik but Hardik in at 7. 

 

But there are peeps who believe that it's not viable because thakur can bat apparently.
