What did you think of it. Getting stick on social media . My first reaction was, what an idiot. But that was a terrible ball and he was right to go for it. The criticism he is getting is the reason why we can never play Bazball style cricket

That ball was there to be hit. But it swung very late so got the edge.

Ball was not the best.  Terrible execution by kishan considering that he was aware it was only the 1st over and the new ball would swing a bit.  Not surprising that it took the outside edge.  He could hv left it if he was not confident.  Target was only 200.

Iyer's shot worse than that. 2/2 and top order batter should not even think of playing like that.....Taking pressure off is different thing but that was deplorable..

Shouldn't have gone for the shot ,first you need to access the pitch/conditions and give yourself at least a couple of overs as a sighter. 

But we shouldn't make a big deal of this ,he is primarily an attacking batsman who goes for his shots regardless of the situation

So, will probably make a century vs Afg, can do well vs Eng and Ned too. 

 

Don't expect much against better teams especially on tough pitchea

Full marks on the intent, but execution was terrible. Should have waited for a few balls and get the hang of pitch.

If he tuk tuks then also there will be complains,if he plays shots then you expect such things.

 

Next time be careful for the first 2-3 overs when it's swinging but after that someone should attack the bowlers.

I think both Kishan and iyer will learn from it, kishan intent was right as he was first up. But iyer shot was really horrid and i think he preempted short ball and then eventually checked his shot.
