Which team looks like the biggest threat to India in this World Cup ?

Recommended Posts

I ll pick South Africa on their current form and ability to play spin in the middle overs with Klaasen and VD Dussen.

They can derail us, group match with them will be a good indicator on how we are going to tackle their spin playing abilities and fast bowling.

Ngidi, Rabada, Jansen, Coetze, Shamsi can test us under lights.

India has not been tested in this world cup. Long way to go before even thinking about these things.

Which World Cup have you been watching ?

we were 3 wickets down for 2 runs against Australia in Chennai

Pak was running away with the game at 155/2 on a flat wicket in Ahmedabad.

we came out of both of these tough situations.

you don’t have to be in sh*t every game to be  “ tested”

It has been all bowlers who have been great and done the job so far, batsmen have not been asked to chase much.

Yes they were 3 wickets down but it was small total.

If you think chasing 200 is getting tested then you have different defintion of things.

Our middle order still got tested. KL Rahuls confidence must have gone through the roof after that rescue act and it is showing.

The Aussie bowlers were on a rampage at 3 down for nothing even defending 200.

You have to be an all time great team to be 3 down for nothing and chase 300 plus.

so let’s get out of fanciful “ tests” .

the team has had an answer for all challenges encountered so far.

we have not been tested defending scores against gun batting sides and that is something to look forward to.

Being tested is not all about absolute numbers, it's relative and more to do with the pressure of the situation. If you think with 3 down for nothing your mo wasn't tested, I don't know what else they can do, and that wicket was far from a 300 wicket.

they have too many failings. smith & labu in MO, as well as poor pace attack with below par cummer. and no spin as well.

Biggest threat will be NZ and SA (latter can choke though)

i don’t think NZ is what people are making it up to be. They have played 3 minnows so far. Let them face the stronger teams… these are not Eng/ NZ  like conditions. We should bloody humiliate them on our turf.

we may do so in league, and get a thrashing in KOs

On paper, SA look to be a bigger threat to us, compared to NZ. But never forget they hv the choking genes for decades.   One tough moment and they will start melting.  Same cannot be said about NZ.

likes of ABDV were very talented, but not mentally strong (I remember how he did in both 2011 and 2015 WCs). likes of klaasen and miller are better IMO mental-strength-wise

Its same issue with them too.. The only game SA chased in this World Cup was vs an associate nation Netherlands and all of these names choked big times. Its same issue which likes of ABD, Faf, Amla had. When they perform, everyone performs and when they fail, everyone fails.
