Is this still the case? When I was growing up, 1 karod was an unfathomable sum of money. But, now, with inflation, it seems like a middle-class baseline. No?

Upper middle class with an opportunity to upgrade quickly. Definitely better than doing odd jobs in pardes

They had a decent life in India.. kharcha.. xx lakh rupiya loans.. they raise money.. etc. Punjab has it worse , with no jobs and people don’t want to do khetti-badi

India should collaborate with china on solar, wind, EVs , charging infra. Air pollution is the single biggest factor. Bigger than all other factors combined. Not just delhi, it plagues entire India. Recently a longevity expert cut short his interview midway in a 5 star hotel in Bengaluru due to air pollution.

salaries easily cross 1crore for engineers in namma Bengaluru and that may not be sufficient to buy a decent flat, let alone a house

Thrown them in jail for what?

 

What law (in India) have they broken? Unless they faked their documents , where in they can be charged under the Passport Act.

 

They have been punished enough. Fooled by touts into parting with a lot of money. Have a check mark against deported in their passports which means they wont get visas to most places ever again that they would have wanted to go to.

 

The travel agents/touts should be investigated and punished.

On a serious note, they got to go on an exciting, thrill-filled, adventurous, weight-loss aiding, month-long trek through the scenic Central American Jungles, Mountains & Desserts, experiencing the exotic wildlife & diverse cultures of other refugees/cartels on their way and came back home safely free of charge on a giant US military plane. All that for just 1 crore INR. That's actually paisa vasool tourism..

What rubbish. I am going to US but my agent forgot to get US visa stamped so for me and me only it's visa on arrival ? Every single person knew what was happening.
