Why did NZ opted to chase against SA?

Everyone knows SA is a top team batting first but tends to choke while chasing. However NZ opted to bowl first after winning the toss. The same NZ that lost against Aus while chasing.

 

Pls discuss, what is the reason behind NZ opting to chase?

Pune is seen as a chasing ground where batting gets easier at night. There's also dew factor. Even Bavuma said he wanted to chase at toss.

NZ are chasing well...  Pune is a belter.  Anything around 320 would be easy peasy

i dont think thats the point.we know for a fact that the Saffers suck at chasing,this looks like a terrible decision.

Because good sides don't change their strategy because of the opposition. They do what works for them the best.

 

It's similar to when a batsman faces the bowler. You play according to the merit of the ball, not who the bowler is.

Play to your strengths and not to the opponents weakness . That’s what you do when you do not have rich resources and skill.. NZ always plays more of the same cricket rather than some thing new every time … 
 

they have more confidence in their bowling line up to restrict the opponent to a decent score the ground vs allowing the opponent to chase when dew takes over …
