Mayank Yadav, Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna should be our 3 specialist quicks for the T20I series vs Australia, with Bumrah, Siraj and Shami rested.

Recalling Bhuvi would be a big, step backwards.

Literally every damn team has got one express pacer minimum. Like wtf is wrong in this country. Even on these insipid slow tracks that we dish out.

The benchmark for selection needs to be different for genuine quicks. You cannot simply rely on how these guys perform or pad their stats on slow wickets.

If not Mayank, they should at least include Tyagi.  Umran I’d keep him in the circle for ODIs.

I always have a problem with guys who seem to please everyone. I knew this was on the cards with this selection committee. Not confirmed yet but if this turns out to be true, then Agarkar has set new benchmarks at being utterly hopeless.

An insider quoted by TOI stated, “The selectors are likely to rest all the senior bowlers. In such a scenario, we need an experienced seamer like Bhuvneshwar to lead the attack. He may be recalled"

Going by how this TM stuck to their Plan A for the ODI WC (risking going with Bumrah, Iyer and KL, despite their long injury layoffs), have a sense they'd have identified their core group for the T20 WC as well and Bhuvi isn't in their plan as he hasnt played T20Is since Nov 2022. Bumrah, Siraj, Prasidh and Arshdeep (plus Hardik) is IMO the group they are looking at if all are available.

So expecting Prasidh, Arshdeep, Umran, Pandya and Thakur/Deepak Chahar to be named for the Aus T20Is.

Ajit Agarkar will lose a lot of respect if he decides to go back to a 34 year-old Bhuvi.

Tyagi is spraying the ball so far this season. Getting hit even by low quality batters of weak state teams.

Including him now would stamp him as a spray-gun and he would be sidelined for a long time. It isn't as if this TM is interested in grooming rookies.

Mayank is accurate and bowling well this season while being the quickest too.

It is always advisable to pick and back youngsters in good form. Like Umran should have been backed after IPL 2022 and told to do what he was doing when he picked those 22 IPL.wickets

Yes being sidelined is a big risk and also the other risk of absorbing too much unwanted advice.
They also need to introduce these players in the right format. The problem is that the T20 format is difficult for express bowlers on these slow wickets.

But unfortunately if they don’t crack T20s, they can’t get into the side and then these guys can’t be unleashed to do their thing in ODIs and tests. I have no doubt, we are going to lose lots of promising quick bowlers simply due to this.

This Guy Bhuvi had only 1 good purpose in his cricket career, that was to bowl in England and SA tests.

Had he been fit or serious, he would have been a great asset for us during the 2018 tour of Eng. He also would have been a decent batter at no 8 in tests.

What did he do in 2017 CT and 2019 world cup.He was one of the main reasons why India never got any early wickets.I don't think he would have done much in tests also.He was a very limited bowler.

Think agarkar might send him as a net bowler . That’s his best use , also to get him to serve drinks

Agree that he was trash on flat pitches.

But MASSIVE difference between ODI/T20 pitches and Test ones in England and SA.

Bhuvi was a pretty good bowler in seamer friendly conditions. Infact even his tuk tuk lower order batting might have helped us win a close test in the 2018 Eng series.

Glad you included Arshdeep :D

I'd have following pace attack

Arshdeep

Prasidh

Mohsin (if fit)

Harshit (as bowling AR)
