maniac
Could have easily stat padded to 600+ runs this tournament. What an unselfish cricketer Lord 1 Link to comment

Vijy
one of few people today who batted at the right tempo. this is a pitch where only 410-420 is a winning total vs NZ given our choking bowlers Link to comment
sage
He could’ve easily hoovered up a few more runs but the swashbuckling manner in which has approached every innings has set the tempo for India. A side that is prone to going into its shell in high pressure situations was relieved of all pressure by Rohit not just today in the semi final but throughout this WC. He has led like a marauder from the front and shouldered the burden of the team and given excellent platforms for the middle order. He is who we owe for our success this tournament Link to comment
cricketfan28
Everybody is playing their role perfectly, hence the success. Role of rohit is more challenging though. SRT100 1 Link to comment
coffee_rules
He is sacrificing a lot of 100s by playing aggressively for 10 overs. He could have stat padded a 100 on a slow pitch today like somebody!! SRT100 and Nikhil_cric 1 1 Link to comment

Mind you he is also aware that if India wins the WC, he is the Captain, so in many ways it is his personal achievement as well. However I dont disagree with your assertion, he definitely is taking calculated risks for the benefit of the team in setting an above par score or reducing the pressure of chasing. Kohli going tuk tuk is selfish, but in many ways he anchored the innings from one end. SKY feels like a walking wicket and after Jaddu the tail is deep and incapable of runs. ravishingravi and coffee_rules 2 Link to comment

Nikhil_cric
Interesting difference in mindset as well. Kohli in the mid match interview said that he would have been happy with "330-340". NZ would probably have chased that on that wicket . On the other hand, it was Rohit's/Iyer's and KL's intent that got us to 397. That extra cushion of 50-60 runs is important if bpwlers don't get everything spot on or if the wicket gets easier. Won't blame Gill since he was injured but I suspect even he would have upped the tempo since he was set. Gill was clearly showing more intent coming into the World Cup but has lost muscle mass cos of dengue. I hope these guys all look up to Rohit for inspiration. Clearly a greater batting leader than Kohli ever was. Kohli can only inspire himself. Rohit is inspiring the entire team by doing it himself AuxiliA, SRT100, ravishingravi and 2 others 1 1 3 Link to comment

Rohit is inspiring the entire team by doing it himself Have to agree with this, NZ would have chased down a score around 350 on this wicket. While they got all out for 327 it was because they were chasing 397, if chasing 350 they would have been more selective towards the end of the innings. At 2 for 220 in the 32 over, NZ were ahead in the game. India's WC was close to being over inside 18 overs. Chasing a score of ~400 at 8 an over is what created the genuine scoreboard pressure. Frustrated
Not disagreeing with the OP. But it seems there are too many Rohit Sharma threads conveying similar message. Maybe these all should be merged. coffee_rules and SRT100 1 1 Link to comment

The amount of same topics is plain stupid. There should be a ban in place. Can you imagine if India win the WC, there will be like 50 new topics. Frustrated 1 Link to comment
putrevus
No he is not, he is able to do this as ball is not moving. He is sitting duck as he proved if ball moves one bit as seen in some matches. Where was this so called intent in last t20 semis.Where he was the captain and SR was under 100. Let us not get carried away, it has been complete team effort. Rahul proved how important he has been in limited chances he has batted too. It has been complete team effort. No need single out one player. Edited November 16, 2023 by putrevus Link to comment
