IPL news - Thakur gets released as substitute player rule gets kicked in

even our pseudoall rounders wil have to develop one v strong suit or will be kicked out.

this rule will likely stop further development of bowling and batting . Its so stupid

how?

What prevents these bowlers to develop some batting skill. Like we don’t need alltounders.  We need some good hitters as tails.   Usually fast bowlers should have hitting capacity as they have strong shoulders.   BCCI should give special training to all fast bowlers to hit the ball with stable base.  Imagine if all of these three fast bowlers can hit.  It will give nightmare to opponents

Philosophy nowadays is that batsmen should bat and bowlers should bowl. Batsmen can't even fill in few overs if a bowler gets injured or is having a bad day. Bowlers cannot even hold the bat if batsmen get out early.

This was not always the case. Even just a few years ago, we had players like Sehwag, Tendulkar who could bowl few overs and in the 80s we had bowlers like Binny, Madan Lal, Ghavri, who could all bat a bit. Now neither batsmen want to bowl nor do the pace bowlers want to bat.

That's a philosophy destined for failure in big moments

CSK despite with oldies win because of depth lol They all can bat. lot of them can bowl. Most of them can field as well. Batting depth is very very vital.

Yeah this is crucial and it gives you a) more options and b) reduces pressure on individuals as know there are others who can also bat/bowl.

Its the fielding though which gets me as in tight games it can make a difference. Why are the likes of Siraj who are supposedly athletic so dreadful in the field? Can be easily improved yet nothing happens and have to be hidden in the field.

Only in T20s you can get away with poor bowling adding batting depth.
