He cranked up his pace in this match. Which means he's capable of being good. Didn't see that in his previous efforts. Hence the frustration.

He is not in the same league as Bumrah, Siraj or Shami. But is good for an away tour as a backup. On flat pitches , everybody failed including Suraj. But gets singled out.

I feel he doesn’t use his brain. He need to be coached by bumrah to think on what to bowl every ball. He gave a single last ball to Atkinson I thought that was a poor ball a bowler can bowl when you have a no10 who can’t bat.

Can be ok in 5 man attacks. But is prone to being smashed out of the attack.

What I saw today:

 

When he was short, he lacked venom and was easily played.

 

When he was length, he was length on the legs and flicked away.

 

Even his wide off the offstump balls felt barely controlled.

 

He lacked that edge, control, or discipline.  Frontline batsmen would have picked him off easy.

 

He may have been nervous today, it's only his 6th or 7th Test.

 

But he's 29, unless he ramps up his game significantly, he will never be more than a third bowler and not for very long.

he’s got excellent temperament. bowling sh%t doesn’t phase him at all.  he’s a keeper !
