Jadeja is easily the best test allrounder of this generation , Ben Stokes is hardly an allrounder. Lord and cricspirit 1 1

mishra Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 (edited) Stokes is talented. H can bat, He can bowl. He can raise his game. The problem is, English team relied so heavily on him, his body and mind both failed. Now, he has become smarter and understands powe of pay cheque. He won’t do things which will result him going back to what he was before he took captaincy( ie battered man). But One should not rule out the threat he poses to opposition in one off crunch games. ie He can raise his game to win a final match but he hasn’t got a body which will carry whole English team on his back to make it into finals. So he is done in my view. He will keep captaincy and may occasionally produce outstanding performances say Ashes in last game where series is decided on last match Edited March 9, 2024 by mishra

If you ask the English or Western countries fans on his contributions outside England, their argument would be that his game is perfectly suitable for performing in bouncy conditions of Australia and South Africa. The reason he didn't performed in Australia last tour was because those were very bowling friendly conditions and most batters failed in that series. Now, he had injury so he couldn't bowl at that time so he didn't picked any wicket. Now, the conditions were certainly tough for batting in last Australia tour while the 2017 Ashes where batting was a lot easier, he was injured. So he has just been unlucky to not contribute in Australia with either bat or ball but otherwise he showed his glimpse very young in his career with a ton and 5-fer when every other England batsman was failing. If you judge by traditional statistics, he is not really a great player, barely above average. What he brings to the table are his clutch performances Match winning innings in a World Cup final Match winning century and historic last wicket stand in an Ashes test Match winning T20 final innings.
