He has a mixed action currently but it is not a big adjustment. His upper body is very front on. He just needs to close his upper body a bit on loading to have better alignment. It will also help him bowl well to left handers. It's not a big deal.  Navdeep Saini did it too who used to bowl 135-140, started hitting 145 with this subtle change. This change will help him.

Yeah I thought so too. I think a slightly angular run up may help him close off the upper half and become a proper semi front on bowler ?

Tait, shoaib akhtar, Mitchell Johnson all generated pace by muscle power. They are power bowlers. There is no one rule in fast bowling because bodies are different and there are different type of bowlers. Alan Donald is not same as Shoaib or Lee who are knee dominant slingers. Jofra Archer is not same as Mark Wood. Both are different type of bowlers. Likes of Steyn, Donald are momentum bowlers. Some bowlers need to run fast to generate pace. These are momentum bowlers. 20% of pace comes from runup. These bowlers have to move quickly from back foot to transfer momentum. Like Steyn. Some bowlers runs slow and generate pace. They are power bowlers. They spend more time on the backfoot to generate power like Tait, Shoaib. Most side on bowlers do. Some are in between bowlers too.

Only thing most pertinent to bowling genuine pace is percentage of fast Twitch fibers.  Ambrose talking about generating pace from lower body is useless. he is just a bowler. He knows how to bowl and take wickets. He played when cricket sports science wasn't evolved. Every bowler was trained in same way. He is not a biomechanic or sports scientist. Upper chest, lats, delts are the most important muscles in generating pace.  Lower body strength is important for your run-up momentum. Mostly strong buttocks are important for momentum hip dominant bowlers like Jofra, Donald, Steyn.

Fast bowling science is much more evolved now.  We understand every individual has a pace ceiling depending on the type of muscle fibers they have predominantly and training and technique can only help to a limit. Bowlers have been categorised according to their neurotypes. Type 1 and Type 2. Both have subclassification type 1A, type 1b. Type 2a, type 2b. Type 1 are those with high fast twitch muscle fibers. Type 1 a is knee dominant explosive bowlers, Type 1b hip dominant momentum bowlers.

1Bs utilize it better ,their counter movement is better than knee ones

He doesnt get to play a SINGLE test this year, next year or 10 years later, if he isnt good enough to make it to a FC team and his total FC experience is 0.

He isnt in contention for Australia tour, nor the NZ series for the Tests. He has about 10 guys ahead of him at this point, even if he bowled at 170kph, that wouldnt change so long as his FC experience is at 0 and shouldn't.

he isnt tailormaide for any condition yet, given the chap cant last an IPL season without being injured. Even TODAY i can bowl 4 overs of medium pace without getting injured and i am 40+.

Taking a chance with someone with 0 experience in long format of cricket just coz he bowls fast for 15 balls is setting the wrong example and going the Pakistani way. No thanks.

I want us to go the Aussie way, where not even Pat Cummins got to play Test cricket without minimum 20 FC matches under his belt.

Just because he got injured once, it does not mean he will get injured again. So what he becomes injured again, is it end of the world. You cannot play the game with fear of getting injured.

He does not have to last whole IPL, he is work in progress, we have played lot worse bowlers.

Vinay Kumar and Pankaj Singh have 500 plus FC wickets, do I need them in my team.

Pat Cummins hardly played FC matches before his test debut.Get facts first.

While I understand your sentiment of having some FC matches under his belt but this is the fastest way to get him to Australia.

But before anything happens, as I said earlier, he needs to get thru T20 series without any injuries.

Mayank's spell vs RCB ball by ball @express bowling @Mosher @singhvivek141

@Suhaan:flame:

That delivery to Green was class.

Absolutely no time...though it clocked 147k, it felt lot quicker.

The delivery to DK too was sharp, he just survived due to bounce.

I am expecting Mayank & Harshit to debut vs Bangladesh. Hope they remains injury free and don't get lost in favour of useless trundlers.

Good to see was he was nailing his Yorkers.

I hope he mixes his short balls with those searing Yorkers.

Green clearly was beaten for pace hanging on backfoot.

Brother, did you observe he tends to get a bit across to get that lateral inward dip while bowling Yorkers

Yes he does bowl Yorkers

I really hope Bumrah takes both Mayank & Harshit under his wings.
Harshit can bowl 138-146k and I see in him potential to be a our all format bowler. Once his fitness improves he will hit this speed consistently.
Mayank is special with his extra pace and he can clock 145-155k if fit, at this pace if he is accurate with his yorkers, he will be unplayable.

Mayank will be injury prone for his nosync action ,we must be prepared

Umran is struggling with his lengths, his line isn't problem

Umran if he's settled will be more available than Mayank

Mayank should be used very wisely, wish Umran had took off,he could have given that extra pace in his absence

Tyagi had the ingredients but is dissapointingly most erratic

Bro, Mayank's lines are so Wow  !

And he varies his lengths while keeping his lines the same and does this at 145 k to 157 k with bounce and seam movement.

That is why I want to see him in Aus, even if its white ball cricket

Brett lee has always been significantly deeper and stronger in the chest than Bumrah. He is a deep chested fellow, not as much as Kallis. Bumrah is more of a beanpole build. I dont know what tricks your memory is playing on you. I mean sure, late 20s & early 30s Brett lee was a lot buffer but thats more coz he filled out than he worked out to get giant muscles.

These are that ectomorph, endomorph etc. bodytype things.

Brett Lee and Bumrah also aren't comparable in terms of pace. Mayank and Brett Lee are comparable.

NCA is claiming that they have worked to remove or improve this issue.

NCA can say what it likes, but those in the knowhow in sports and sports medicine know exactly how concerning hip flexor injuries are.

As i said, if Mayank rips that muscle, forget him ever touching 135kph again.

Mayank doesn't have hip injury. He had abdominal strain.
