R Ashwin rakes up controversy by targeting Sunil Narine’s bowling action

Sunil Narine has been sensational for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2024. He has scored 380 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 179.24. 2024. The southpaw has hit 1 hundred and 2 fifties. Even in the bowling department, Narine has taken 13 wickets in 10 matches, at an economy of 6.72.

 

 

In the 17th season, bowlers are finding hard to contain the batters. Jasprit Bumrah (6.25) and Narine are the only bowlers in the Purple Cap race, who have an economy less than 7. Bumrah is leading the standings with 17 dismissals in 11 games with 17 scalps.

 

Rajasthan Royals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has raked up controversy by taking a dig Sunil Narine’s bowling action.

 

“Bumrah’s release point gives him distinct advantage over other bowlers. I won’t talk about Sunil Narine as it is wrong according to my policy. Narine was conceding runs 2-3 seasons ago. This season he has been magnificent but let’s not get into that topic,” he said.

 

 

Ashwin has taken just two wickets at an economy of 9.00 but RR are leading the points table. KKR are second, with Narine making important contributions. On the other hand, Mumbai are last in the table despite Bumrah’s brilliance.

 

Good that he mentioned the elephant in the room.

Our incompetent gully level umpires in IPL can't even give wides properly and Narine is taking advantage of it. Umpiring wasnt this bad In IPL in earlier seasons. IIRC, Narine was questioned and asked to modify his action in IPL itself.

but sunil bowling iwht half sleeve now....

 

so if he is chucking, it owuld be obvious....

 

there maybe some truth to this...

 

but the other bit is Ashwin is completely being outbowled by another off spinner in Narine so there is jealousy....

It is obvious, blatant. Shame on IPL, umpires for allowing this level of cheating.

Why do you think Narine never plays international cricket? The kind of returns he is having recently, he can easily be an MVP in the WC.

 

If this were pre-2014, he would have become the Garfield Sobers of white ball cricket.

We blame Yuvraj and Dhoni for the 2014 WT20 final fiasco. Great death bowling by Malinga and Kulasekara agree, but people have forgotten how that chucker Senanayake applied the brakes on India in the middle overs. Another 20-25 runs and we would have won that final.

He should play in their WC squad just as a batsman. And then bowl in the semis and finals if they get there.

That way, he will be given a warning for chucking after the semis and a ban after the finals. That's a strategic move to have him out of the team eventually yet use his contributions to the team in the WC

I don't think he would make it solely as a batter. IPL pitches + IPL bowling attacks are not the same as int'l cricket.

Windians aren't as crooked and morally bankrupt as Pakistanis and Lankans.

Yet till date, padosis who claims Ashwin chucks use that video of Ashwin imitating Narine as supposed proof that Ashwin chucks.
