Yo are arguing just for the sake of it. If we had lost to Aus in whatever way, Aussies were in irrespective of Afghans. It was not a dead rubber in any sense. Fear of failure and elimination was not there. But the importance of this match was paramount.  2023 we suffered only in the final, due to a bad pitch and lost toss.

How does it matter to us if Aus are in or not? A dead rubber means it didn't effect Indian chances like a knockout would.

 

 

2023 we made lot of unforced error, not just pitch and toss. Bowling Siraj as 5th bowler, no slips for spinners, Jadeja ahead of SKY were all signs of mental capitulation

1) Many things had to happen for Australia to be eliminated, so if India had lost this would not have happened.

 

Aus lose Vs Afghanistan

Aus lose Vs India

Afg win Vs Bangladesh

 

2) Winning match eased net rate permutations, less stress for Team Management

 

3) India facing different opposition, also different format.

 

Also using your logic, Rohit Sharma playing this way should not have  affected Australia, they should have won like in 2023 WC final but they did not, so opposition was affected by his aggressive innings.

India's chances of winning the tournament have tripled all of a sudden due to eliminating Australia who were one of their biggest competitors to the Trophy. The match was not a dead rubber for any of the teams, Australia wanted to win it to stay in the tournament while India had to win to ensure their journey towards the title becomes easier.

 

Rohit performed, India won. A very important knock from Tournaments POV.

1) Yes hence India did not knockout Aus. If anything, Afghan have better claim on that

 

2) That is just a minor thing. There was less stress anyway compared to a must win.

 

3) T20 is even more fickle than ODIs. One good win won't scare opponents.

KL Rahul is like that too, or atleast used to be. Uber talented hence all the more frustrating when he does tuk tuk and says shiz like SR doesn't matter

No KL rahul is not in the same class. Rohit used to score big 100s even in t20s.He has three double 100s in odis for a reason.

 

That is why him getting out to Maxwell was so infuriating.

That Yuvi's innings is still the best innings by any Indian batsman in t20 world cups.
