Lakshya is a Bengali, even if he grew up elsewhere.

He is born in Almora Uttarakhand. Same place where Dhoni comes from.  His grandfather introduced badminton in Almora for the first time. His father is his coach. So they have lived in Almora for long.

Yeah or may be Lakshya has better fitness. People can bs whatever they want that us desis are fat, lazy blah blah.. Lakshya is from Uttarkhand, hilly region. The pahadi guys have incredible endurance as taking steep walks and runs is a norm for them and they are used to of living with low oxygen levels.

Nonsense bs spouted.

India has a vast gene pool. Plenty of strong athletic guys out there. We just have issues with corruption and facilities.

Hockey result showed our class.

We need mental conditioning though.

Great day for India after yesterday disappointments- sweet in Hockey and Manu looking strong for another medal.

I would have been devastated if Lakshya lost today. But he didn't - Clutch Sen :cheer:

Over to tomorrow- Manu all important final, Bhajan/Deepika will get last go to salvage Archery campaign and then there is Boxing fight for Nishant which can guarantee a Bronze.

One of the greatest performance in Olympics by an Indian by Lakshya Sen...seriously this guy is one of the best individual talents we have produced in any sport

Yaar Sindhu has won Silver in Badminton for India. Let him do that first.

Looks like we'll see some records broken in Track this Olympics

Not 100m. Never in that. But yea others maybe

First saw his clutch qualities at the CWG Finals. The opponent Malaysian was very tricky. He was beating all higher ranked opponents by somehow forcing them to make silly errors.

Lakshya too lost first set but then played tactically brilliant game where he just didn't take a single chance and forced the opponent to make move. Soon the opponent ran out of gas.

Yeah the longer distances are definitely an opportunity for new records to be set

You can just tell by looking at people's faces to know their clutch ability. Lakshya just looks clutch.

Neeraj Chopra too. Been following him since 2016 when he had created the World Record at U20 level. Had told my friend that this guy would medal up at the Olympics, probably a bronze or silver. Freaking guy won the Gold!
