cowboysfan Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Genetics have nothing to do with hitting sixes, this isnt baseball for petes sake where timing is not needed instead brute force is all that is required along with a good eye.

We are working on our strength and conditioning, but you can’t fight genetics,” he said. This is pure nonsense though. Pakistanis propagated this BS for ever on diet/beef but Yuvraj, Dhoni, Sehwag punched them and Aussies so hard during that decade that they have reduced that propaganda now. If you are talented enough, hardworking to learn skills and intelligent enough to apply yourself , you will do fine. Ask Bumrah who is hardly Dennis Lilly in terms of structure or Rinku Singh who is 5'6 making his impact know with every opportunity.
bsriharsha Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 But then they eat beef. Why no strength saar.

Is it a coincidence ? West Indies players are ideal definition of " Hacks " who maybe the most technically deficient to survive against quality bowling , but Six hitting is something at which they never struggle. Just about everyone is capable of " muscling " his way out of the ground. All Bangaldeshi batters seem to be in same category of Chanderpaul and Denesh Ramdin , not even a single Bangaldeshi batsman in its history could do power hitting like Hayden, Justin Kemp or Klaasen or even Ifti Chacha or Misbah, Misbah the slowpoke was also capable of hitting long Sixes at will. Afghan Rashid Khan is a bigger Monster hitter than any of the Bangla batters. Its funny that Bangladesh is finally producing Fast bowlers who bowl in range of 140s , some like Nahid Rana even cross 150s but they still struggle to produce Power Hitters. That same WI had Sobers and Lara who were hardly giants but legends of the game. While physicality in sports helps, it is not a driving factor to excel. Mentality, attitude, ability to learns skills and apply along with inherent talent is most important.

express bowling Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 They are producing fast bowlers for quite some time now and Nahid is express. Nahid, Taskin, Tanzim, Ebadot, Rubel etc. So many quick bowlers from a small nation. They should think about talent searching, hitting techniques, training and mindset aspects while looking for big hitters and not hide behind the genetics excuse ike we used to a few years back regarding Fast bowlers till Umesh, Aaron, Shami and Bumrah came. There must be lots of incentives given to get something which one does not have currently. We failed in this aspect when we praised trundlers and criticized quicks in our domestic cricket. Skills matter of course but in sports genetics play a role as well. Can't deny the science & genetically Pakistanis and Indians are similar. BD players are lot skinny and smaller in stature than rest of the subcontinent. Maybe they will improve with more development & living standards improve. Lankans look most sturdy and beefed up of the lot. HDI plays its role as well.

Bangladesh population isn't small. They are 17 cr. Delhi with less than 3 cr population has produced several 140 plus bowlers. Edited October 12, 2024 by rkt.india vishalvirsingh 1
Vk1 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands, Afghan players hit more sixes per avg than the established BD cricketers. These european teams probably have 50 first class cricketers at max? At an entry level, those observations might be true but BD as a professional team definitely needs to do better instead of finding excuses. Its as if they have given up. Lone Wolf 1

Chakdephatte Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 When, Pooran, Rinku, Jaiswal, Tewatia, McGurk can hit massive sixes, genetics is just an excuse. None of these have the built. Just get your training right, and off course, the talent. That's what Bangladesh lacks. @Lone Wolf
rollingstoned Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 (edited) I don't like them but this sort of race 'surrealism' I'm not a fan of and tends to usually be bunkum. Otis Gibson also was saying this about Bang bowlers when he was coach not long back and they're producing express pacers now, probably more than any other subcontinental team. If such a comment were to be made about blacks ie like them lacking intelligence it would have made people bristle a lot more than this. South Indians are skinny and smaller in stature too than North Indians. Genetically Rohit Sharma is a south Indian. How does he get the power to hit those 6s then ? Does Vada Pav give more strength than beef and fish ?

If we use that logic then Rinku Singh, Jaiswal and Hardik Pandya have lived a life in proverty with barely enough food for meals...leave alone the nutrition. Arjun Tendulkar who perhaps would have the best nutrition from the childhood should be able to hit sixes for fun. express bowling and raki05 2
