I believe Ashwin hasn’t got same kind of backing what Jadeja and other bowlers got. From MSD to Kohli to Sharma everyone dropped him, if the choice was between him and other spinner. Its true msd brought him in the team, but he dint treat him well later ,even he dint pick Ashwin in his ipl team after Meyappan fiasco.

I am okay that he retires at this age. But if anyone deserves a farewell test it is him. Could have been used him at the SCG. Wonder if they pursuaded him or not.

I think Rohit, Virat and Jaddu also deserve a farewell game. We can criticize all 3 for current performance but these 4 were the pillars for over a decade.

Ashwin was first choice on away tours when he started, his batting nosedived though. Overseas they wanted batting depth.

Virat has been past by sell date for the last 4 years. Rohit is a LOI great. Definitely not Test great.  Jaddu still has something to offer. but he shuld be dropped from LOI set up.

Ashwin did the right thing and probably got fed up being a water carrier on a tour. He is 38, form is declining with age and the next series is in England in the summer. Plus he has developed enough of a portfolio to transition seamlessly into analysis/journalism. A 10 cr IPL contract doesn't hurt !

Rohit is a nobody in Test cricket.

Overseas he suffered in comparison to Jadeja as an all round package. Only one of them could play and Jadeja made the cut most of the time.

Hasn't the last 5 years been a long farewell for kohli? We have been playing him purely on sentiment

The timing seems off. He would be needed in Sydney and maybe melbourne too.
