Australia are blessed with these best athletes in the world

If I recall correctly they have been playing in tandem for last 10-11 years across all formats

Rarely they take rest,part of almost all Australia assignments

Not only being a steady part they have been architects of major wins

How do they manage their workload when they are always playing each and every match even last tour our bowlers were falling like flies,these 3 played all the 4 matches and bowled intriguing spells throughout

And even now, they are so fit and doing well. Cummins has bowled 9 overs out of 21 when he took himself off, and still looked fresh as a daisy. In contrast, Bumrah bowled 28.4 overs out of 122.4 and was completely out of gas, resorting to trundling toward the end. Shows the difference in fitness levels

You have to admire their work ethic and commitment towards national duty.

Starc at his prime left IPL for 7-8 years coz he wanted himself to be fit for the national duties.

 

These guys may not have bank balance like our fast bowlers, but what they have is the all the accolades and big trophies which any cricketing nation would be proud off.

 

It all boils down to where the prime focus of the board is. CA uses IPL as a cash cow but their key focus is on ICC tournaments and Test series. Our board is hell bent on scheduling IPL on time, whether we have to compromise on any ongoing Test series. No wonder why every trundler will be fit for IPL and give 200%.

it's because CA's focus is sporting excellence, whereas that of BCCI's is profit maximization

That's why BCCI is not appreciated despite having all riches.

They may have all the money but have no respect for the game. The players who see this day and night too becomes like them...extremely money minded and nothing to show in the trophy cabinet.

yeah, it's an institutional problem. also true for many (but *not* all) sectors of indian govt and society sadly

The only thing I have to contribute is to look at their multi format workloads especially T20 cricket

 

Starc did not play any domestic T20 cricket between 2015 and 2024.

 

Hazlewood's T20 workload was minimal until 2020/21 season.  Started getting injured frequently. 

 

Shami and Ishant were elite Test bowlers between 2015-2019 with minimal T20 workloads too.

 

I don't see how it's possible going forward but our premium Test pacers need to be incentivised not to play IPL .

yes, that's not gonna happen. instead, we could try to find bowlers more suited for T20s and those more suited for tests, and try to move toward specialists. in that way, a test bowller may play IPL but can at least avoid T20Is and ODIs

Yes that's what I was thinking too

Bumrah will never stop or allowed to sit for MI, continuosly plays for MI even if they are out of the SF race in the extreme heat and humid during IPL

Ishant and Shami weren't great either in t20s ,so that also helped them in the beginning

I also think Bumrah must hang is boot in tests,he can't leave t20s only thing he can do is leaving tests

Cummins had a great comeback. Played test after 6 years in 2017 and since then he hasn't stopped yet. Cummins bowled brilliantly even in our last tour here..

IPL bowling isn't a problem. They bowl 56 overs over two months.  It's the easiest format for any fast bowler.

and with the impact player, they can probably skip some part of fielding (and batting) too, if needed.

Not physically, but it's of too much cricket which cause mental fatigue.

It's not about one or two seasons

Plus the extreme heat adds to the toll on the body, involvement,travel

Mental aspect and he's not a youngster anymore,his action does require some cushion
