gakgupta Posted April 6 Posted April 6 He seems to be getting the wickets consistently with a very low economy rate... This is probably the best ipl season for him so far What is working for him now? What has changed? Any experts views? As a layman .. I can see that his zip has improved. He has always had a decent line & length and that seem to continue. cricketfan28 1

Ultimate_Game Posted April 6 Posted April 6 (edited) Two reasons: 1. He's hitting better lengths. Siraj has always looked threatening when he nailed the length where the ball hits top of the off stump. Over the last couple of years he struggled nailing this length and bowled too many over-pitched and hit me deliveries. Now he's nailing the right length. 2. His pace is up. He was hitting early 140s which he used to do a couple of years ago when he was in form and rhythm. The root cause of the change could be manifold. It could be that he's rested, or he got the kick up his @ss after he was dropped from Indian team, or he worked on his game after he was dropped. Or it could be that someone like Nehra was able to get to him. Some coaches have a knack of getting to a player and getting the best out of them. Think Bharat Arun with our pacers a few years ago. Maybe Nehra or a coach in GT staff was able to get through to Siraj. No matter what the reason, this is the version of Siraj we want. Over the last 2 years Siraj was taking things for granted and was too complacent. If Siraj had bowled the same way he's bowling now, we wouldn't have lost BGT. Ultimate_Game Posted April 6 Posted April 6 (edited) 7 minutes ago, Lord said: thook he himself said it That doesn't explain the better line & length. Go back and watch his bowling from BGT or earlier and he couldn't nail the right length consistently. Neither does saliva explain increased pace. Siraj is hitting early 140s in IPL which he used to when he was bowling well. In BGT and in recent past he was barely hitting 130kph. Also, if saliva was the difference then how come he bowled so well in 2020-21 BGT and the Eng series in 2021 as that also had ban on saliva. Truth is he probably got the message that he gotta shape up and perform or he could be kicked to the curb. He's not a batter who'll be carried for years without performances. Need4Speed Posted April 6 Posted April 6 -Rest after being dropped from Indian team..he didnt get enough rest from a long time.. this may have helped him in: -good recovery -focus -bowl with pace -hitting better lengths -more relaxed -point to prove after being dropped could have charged him up - may be Nehra ji’s coaching style suits him..even Prasidh is bowling better under Nehra ji -saliva ban lifted..helping him in later stages of the match too.. deathmonger Posted April 6 Posted April 6 One of the most overworked bowlers. Rest has done him good. He can be a 250-300 test wicket bowler at 27-28. Tillu, BacktoCricaddict, BlueBee and 2 others 5
BlueBee Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I think what he said in PC was spot on. Got dropped, but it was a blessing in disguise. Could find the flaws while also resting.. he is also a very rhythm bowler.
bsriharsha Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Biryani Haleem some major understanding, hopefully about his role ina T20 game. Stan AF 1
tweaker Posted April 9 Posted April 9 His ego got hurt after he was dropped. In the company of Kohli,Rohit he thought he was undroppable even after not performing well.
deathmonger Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Looks in great form. Hope his test form also becomes good. Bumrah is a freak and having another one is a difficult proposition but we should look to be like Aus, SA and NZ who have a bevy of "goodish" bowlers with 27-30 average. A bunch of those plus one ATG is a great pace attack. Need4Speed 1
vvvslaxman Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I think he is an example of why rest and rotation is important. India needs two batches of fast bowlers which they should constantly be rotating especially in LOIs. Need4Speed, Ultimate_Game, rollingstoned and 1 other 1 3
StraightDrive26 Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Siraj is looking good after a long time. This is good for India ahead of the England series. If we have have Bumrah, Shami and Siraj in good rhythm, we can have a close series. Also India need to develop Prasidh, Arshdeep, Mayank, Harshit etc as the second string attack. There is quite a lot of talent, just that they need to be given consistent chances.
tapandrun Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Both Siraj and Pridish are bowling at good pace , hitting good areas, hitting good pace consistently making them more effective. good ball are getting wkt rather being a dot and because of the increased probability of taking wkt bad balls are not going for runs that frequently. singhvivek141 1
wanted_desi Posted April 11 Posted April 11 He is very key in the England series. If he bowls with a decent line and length at 140 km/h, he should do well. We wouldn’t have lost the Australia series if he hadn’t performed so poorly there. Adamant 1
Adamant Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Some posters on ICF were saying that he ismissing the fire and needs to be dropped, looks like they were right. This guy is a momentum bowler, he gets thrashed when he has a bad day and destroys opposition in opening spell itself when uts his day.
