kepler37b Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 Overall this operation has been a whitepill for me. Indian weapons performed exceedingly well. But still, DRDO must be reformed. It is bloated and over-stuffed with support staff. Modi must take a bold step and abolish reservations in defense R&D. And should hang by balls any one that calls for reservations in our armed forces. raki05 and ravishingravi 1 1

I think we need multiple competing orgs (private and gov owned) There are multiple technologies which DRDO have done well in radar and missiles. (increasingly drones) There are multiple technologies which DRDO have been laggard. Jet engines and stuff like AIP (for submarines). dial_100, ravishingravi and raki05 1 2
G_B_ Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 and for me India needs to start thinking of a 1500 to 2000km offensive perimeter for China. Pakistan you can get away with 300km lol. I don't think India can compete with Chinese in the jet sphere. If we buy off the rack there are ToT concerns which the Chinese don't face. We can more than nullify that with the aid of missiles/drones and air defences. dial_100 and raki05 1 1

Project Kusha which is supposed to be better than S400 would be ready in 2-3 years for mass deployment. Why would they spend so much on S500 which would start rolling in around 2030? We will get around 10-15 Kusha AD regiments in half the price. raki05 and dial_100 2

China will only grapple India through realpolitik.

Geography is biggest hurdle for both sides for an offensive. Drones in huge numbers, upgraded MBRL>=300 km in great numbers, towed artillery, light Tanks and modern gear for armed forces. More fighter jets obviously. This helps a lot in a localised border conflict. We can't match them in missile warfare as they are sitting Right on Tibet. Their Small range and medium range ballistic missiles will be enough for them if they really want to flatten our population centres. And they would be humongous in numbers..But Chances of that are unlikely as it Will trigger nuclear response from India. Our doctrine has started to shift rather... Real battle is in IOR. India needs minimum 4 aircraft carriers in next decade with at least a couple nuclear powered ones. Edited June 4, 2025 by Lone Wolf
coffee_rules Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 After how Ukraine staged the drone bombings with operations being done in Russian offices withing Russia, I feel, India too is in a very vulnerable situation with sleeper-cells in India could be used for bombing Indian military establishments. Uri, Pathankot, Pulwama were kind of similar oprations on Indian Army using terrorists working within India with Pakistani handlers. Any demographic changes near Armed forces establishments should be under surveillance and NIA should be activated full time. singhvivek141 1

Siliguri and Sikkim have extremely higher military presence in the region. I think it was well established some few decades back... During legendary General Sunderji era. S400 and most likely various other AD units in the area as well.

Yeah, but the demography is a challenge. Sleeper cells are quite active there.
