They had Russia backing since the 80s, that was why India was also closer to Iran on bi-lat ties. Only now, Russia has lost all power to back Iran or Assad. Iran is an enemy to US and the whole Sunni ARab world.  Respect to them for surviving the Arab Spring while many Islamic countries lost to Qatari influence

Wait isn't the hostile stance towards Pak helps the BJP politically. Atleast that's what all the analysts uninanimously think. Why would BJP go soft on Pak lol.

Amit Shah has publicly and explicitly stated that the IWT is not coming back. He wouldn't have said such a thing if they were planning to resume IWT. That would be a huge loss of face. 

 

Probably in future the IWT will be renegotiated, giving India a more favourable deal. But no way the IWT is coming back in it's present form.
