Good god Jurel played some sublime strokes against both spin and pace.  Looks untroubled so far.  Extremely strong on the cut...love this

It's between him and Nair for that spot in playing XI.

Assuming

Jaiswal

Rahul

Sai

Gill

Nair/Jurel

Pant

Jadeja

Karun 186 not out..i guess he has nailed his position in the 11 with this innings.

dhruv 82 not out..show casing that he could also be picked ahead of rishabh and if he is picked we will get a better keeper and a batsmen who could be better than rishabh too.

sarfaraz proving he is a champion test batsmen 92 out caught by keeper.

Jaiswal scored 24 and keeper caught but yes he did well too.

again, Eswaran losing it...he was a wrong pick; something is wrong with his batting OR his temperament. no point backing him specially when india has at least 15 very good batsmen even for TESTS.

India can play this eleven

KL

Jaiswal

Karun

Gill

Pant

Jurel/Sai

All depends on Two Indian A games and a Intra squad matches between Indian players .

A reasonable start. To be fair it was a minor county standard attack on a sunny day in England so much tougher tests ahead.

On the teams suggested above, my feeling is Sai Sudarshan gets into the XI. He has the technique to do well in tests in England. Karun Nair also is a lock after this and recent performances.  The new look lineup inspires more confidence in me than the walking wickets of RoKo off late.

I don't think Jurel can get into the side as a pure batter as others have stronger cases there. He has to bide his time for the keeper/batsman slot to open up which looks unlikely at the moment.

Selecting 11 is Gambhir's job but I feel he will select these in the first test

Jaiswal

KLRAHUL

Sai

Gill

Karun nair

Pant or Dhruv...in first test Pant will play if he flops dhruv may get a chance.

Jaddu Or Washington

Shardul ahead of NKR

BOOM

Prasidh ahead of arshdeep

Siraj

Karun Nair an example of hardwork

he has scored 186 and still batting.

indicates he is damn serious to get into the 11 and succeed big time else in a practice match he could have gifted his wicket away after scoring a 100.

i knew he and sarfaraz will try his best to perform well in the practice matches to get into the 11

Easwaran was also supposed to do well but he got LBW...can we see the highlights some where

Always good to have backups as injuries are part and parcel. It's not just 11 good players but a pool of 20-30 good ones should be the aim.

We had KS Bharat lol.

His cuts were his downfall in Australia but thats his strength. Its his cuts ane forward defence which won india that test against england at home. In England the bounce will not be as pronounced as Australia so he can defend well as well as play his strokes. At no 6/7 he will be coming with ball old or maybe to face new ball after 80 overs   I think he has the temperament . Karun cant play forever. He is 33. Jurel for me should be the long term no 5 / 6 option

Yup Karun and KL are 33 and basically an in between gen.

The others are all super young.

Jaiswal - 23

Jurel - 24

Pant - 27

Gill - 25

Sai - 23

The ones among them who kick on will be playing 10 years from now.

Shaikh Rasheed

Ayush Mhatre

Pradosh Paul 24 and Yash Rathod 25 is also not bad.

Hopefully he will not be typecast as a wk/bat only there to back up Pant, but as a pure bat.

For the second test ,Sai,Gill,Rahul will be back and most probably Sarfaraz, Jurel will have to make way for them.

As Eashwaran is captain ,he will play else ,Sai should have tried as opener

people talking about Sarfaraz being in the playing xi

he is not even in the Indian squad for England tests. He is only playing the A games

He can be included after Good performance for India A and most likely he will be stay with the Senior team during the test series.
