India- England combined Test XI( post 2000s)

Athers and Hussain made a combined test XI of both countries of players who played post 2000s. Here is my version of a combined test XI of India- England post 2000.

Couldnt find a place for KP as I feel Kohli is a better team player to have than KP. A case could be made for an all rounder like Stokes, Jadeja or Flintoff at 6 or 7 but I am sticking with this as I couldn’t find a better captain to pick them and drop VK.

Root has a better record at 4 and 5 than 3. Dravid has the best record at 3 and is an all time great with arguably on par performance than Tendulkar since 2000s. Anderson must be there, too early for Kuldeep. Even Kumble can be mentioned ahead of him.

 

Lets give more credit to performances attained over longer period rather than being prone towards few recent performances.

Dravid has better stats than Sachin or any other Indian for that matter this century. More runs at better Average, More hundreds, Fifty plus scores.. Great in English conditions.. Can bat lot of balls.. Excellent catching, Emergency keeper, Can open if needed etc. He walks in.

Yes, He is not a must like Anderson and Bumrah. Can be replaced by Shami, Jadeja/Ashwin depending on conditions.
