(1) He is good, but for some reason is struggling on his debut - maybe nervousness? TM confusing him? Dukes ball?

(2) Our domestic batting quality is terrible and so his stats are meaningless.

 

If it is (2) and you can't rely on domestic statistics, then how do you judge bowlers except by "eye-test"? And if eye-test is the only way, it opens the door for all sorts of subjective shenanigans including favoritism, PR-ism, regionalism etc. etc. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bhuvi - a prodigious swing bowler by our standards inadvertently has set a bad precedent.. you can be military medium and still be successful on your day. We will continue to see Mukesh, Khamboj or a dharti ka bhoj..

But Eden Apple Tom played just 1 match last season, the final. Did well. Is just 20 years old. Has a lot of potential. Has a good seam position too. Looking forward to how he does this season. Must get an IPL contract.

 

Gurnoor Brar has played Ranji, has height of 6'5"+, gets bounce and is maybe 137 k+. Can bat a bit. Averages 25.7 with the ball in FC. Can be in the pool.

 

Eden is short, only around 5'8. So there is the problem.

He plays in fast bowlers paradise at Lahli. Those stats can't be taken too seriously.

Nah. He is short. He has a high arm action so trajectory is different. Here he is with Bumrah who himself is 178 cm tall.

Sadly we have not stuck with any young pacer.You have to give prasidh,Harsit some games.Akashdeep lokes promising.Shami has to be in the team.Constant chopping and changing will only hamper growth.

Bumrah is taller thsn 178 cm. Some English ex-players were saying that he is tall ( and they are used to super tall pacers ). Bumrah is somewhere between 181 cm to 183 cm. Google does not give correct heights, especially for Asian cricketers born before 1995.

 

Eden was probably too young and not reached his full height when this picture was taken. 

 

And even if Eden is 5'9" or 5'10" with a high arm action, it should not be a problem if he has pace.
