Especially when you are batting first at 6 PM in the evening. Gill cannot hit 140 + pace at high strike rates like Abhishek nor has he shown the ability to hit spinners on slow pitches.

This squad selection shows everything that's wrong. The two players who should be the first ones on the team sheet in Jaiswal and Iyer are not even in the squad!

 

Iyer has been an exceptional captain taking 3 poor teams to IPL finals (DC, KKR, PBKS), and winning one, and has been amazing in the middle order. Jaiswal has been the best T20 opener across the last 2-3 IPLs and the best all-format batter. Yet they don't get in due to poor PR 

 

Now wait and watch how Abhishek Sharma is sidelined to make way for Superstar and "all format" Gill

Inclusion of Gill as VC just shows how bcci operates. They do not care about winning or losing only last admin was focused on winning iCC event.

 

Cricket is only/major sports in Ind still do not that cups and trophies to validate that. They have kings and gods with hardly any trophies. 

 

Stars donot retire when its right time but they wait till they have nothing in their game and public gets fully frustrated with them. They play atleast 3-4 years more than they should have because they all know winning does not matter its the stardom. 

 

There were cries that kolhi and rohit are not good for t20is and they should be replaced, kolhi's SR is 137 and rohit's SR is 140 , but now Ind has included a batter with SR of 139 and that is okay and its fair to assume kolhi and rohit may have played played better matched oppositions. Most of their runs would be against a good opposition not the B/C level sides.

 

Including Gill is like trying to solve a problem which does not exisits.

 

With his inclusion it either he open or plays 1 down, so moving 2 batters (who have what 4-5 t20i tons amongst themselves in last 2-3 series ) down the order to fit gill.
