Both have served Indian cricket well. Despite today's batting style I don't know who will beat Rohit's highest score or Virats Odi 100 count. While both still have a decent recent odi record I think they should go out on a high at home.

With due respect to Kohli, Since 2019 Rohit has been the better batsmen.

In last 2-3 rohit has been avg 50 and with SR of 100, Kolhi has v.good Wc-23 and this year he is avg. 43  (not bad).

 

Its just that next wc is in 2027 and at this point both will be ~40 yo. Its v.hard to do well at that point specially in ICC events where every team bring their A team and A game.

Only once a side with 2 player in top order with age 35 or plus has won the Odi wc. That was Aus with hayden and Gilcrist.

For India of course.... Beating Aus by 9 wickets and 12 overs to spare in Sydney is always welcome. And this thumping is not scripted. Yeah the series was won and they wanted to see what would happen if they batted first and well.... they found out.

This is true and there can be dramatic difference in 2 years at that age. The Djokovic of 2023 won 3 of 4 slams while 2 years later he has not won a single set in 4 semi finals this year.  Next year he is not making the semis either.

It’s the spots they occupy 

 

Same logic was given for T20 team, but once they retired the team has actually gotten better
