G_B_ Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 Does not look good enough to be picking up wickets. tapandrun 1
vvvslaxman Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 He was the one who created a real chance at Lords. Even yday he was the most threatening. I don't think they are using him as a specialist spinner. They are using him as a part timer. Both leg befores were ultra close
putrevus Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 He is simply not good enough to be in team as specialist spinner. tapandrun 1
cowboysfan Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 both Jaddu and Washi dont give the ball air and bowl too quick, will not work on black soil pitches which are slow.

Jadeja is almost at the end of retirement . Not sure he is going to learn anything new. It was a slow wicket. We were made to play fro 200 overs. We shouldn't be harsh on any bowler. India declared way too soon and over-confident about bowling a side out back to back. cricspirit and helperononline 2
putrevus Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 Jadeja has completely lost it as a spinner. He lost speed and zip of his bowling. He used to be lethal with new ball on these type of wickets. He never had flight in his his arsenal. Sundar has long way to go before he can be played a spinner in the side.. What is Reddy doing in the team.
Majestic Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 He is a genuine A/R, not a specialist spinner.

In many matches he was given a bowl after 50th or 60th over. This is typical Gambhir's template when he was leading KKR. Often times he would totally abandon spinners, or totally abandon seamers depending on the surface. He will keep both of them in the squad. Reddy hardly bowled anything. He is their back up just in case pitch suddenly helps seamers.

Gambhir over bowled Jadeja though, he needs to understand if he wants to utilise jadeja more then do it as a batter. Edited October 13, 2025 by Majestic Lord 1

Jadeja and Kuldep were given the better end.

Jadeja has declined with the bowl and it is his batting that has gone upward curve though there was a dropped catch by Jurel too . It is a case of three batting all rounders being used to fill in the gap which is always going to be challenging when the pitch is flat and nothing happening. India might be a more balanced side with Axar Patel coming in place of Jadeja but Jadeja is just irreplaceable due to his proficiency with bat in all conditions, capability to bowl long spells and bowl his overs at a fast rate and excellent fielding skills. WHen the condition is flat no bowler can do anything in the world. There is nothing called "flat pitch specialist" . You just rely on strategies, opposition committing errors. Most of the wickets that fell in this match were not due to some extra ordinary bowling. Mostly some horrendous shot selection. If it were a SENA team it would have ended in draw. Axar patel was atleast 5 times more toothless than Jadeja with respect to bowling. He was purely playing as batsman for a while. That is why he was even dropped. He Axar doesn't ahve drift or flight. Mostly he darts.
rollingstoned Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 You must've missed the Nzl series where we got whitewashed. I don't blame you for blacking it out lol. BacktoCricaddict and AKane 2
sandeep Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 Washi is a top 5 batter who can bowl a bit. For that level, his bowling is more than handy. Ultimate_Game and Lord 1 1

In this year he was given on an average of 9 overs per innings in 2 or 3 spells. Not a lot you can do in those overs.
ShoonyaSifar Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 2nd best all-rounder in the world after Jadeja since his test comeback last year vs NZ. TM continues to back him and Nitish Reddy to bolster after below average lower order and to prepare them for the tougher assignments in SENA. Like Gambhir said in post match conference, will be unfair on them if they were picked only for SENA tests, have to given chances in easir home conditions as well to help their development. Besides Gill, the only ones picked for all three formats.
