Gollum Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Jay Shah, BCCI have 1000 faults. But starting WPL, giving equal match fees to men and women players, are great steps which will correct historical wrongs, and reap dividends for Indian cricket in the long run. This the only way forward to close the gap with Aussies, plus the matter of Olympic medals up for grabs from 28 LA. Vickydev, Manucrick, tapandrun and 2 others 5
Lord Posted November 2 Posted November 2 They still play on 2nd rate grounds. Final should be at Eden Garden or Wankhede As for player fees, simple fact is men have won multiple cups before and play under lot more pressure. Much rather use that money to develop women cricket Manucrick and Vickydev 2

gattaca Posted November 2 Posted November 2 As long as we have demand and performance they should get equal pay. The stadium was packed and their performance definitely peaked compared to 2017. Ya they deserve it. Jay shah for allegations about nepotism he did great for Indian cricket

Jay shah for allegations about nepotism he did great for Indian cricket BCCI has billions, so we really dont need to wait for demand or even performance. Its not like a poor startup which needs to account for every dollar. BCCI is more like a huge corporation which can pick and choose where to invest in, even if that department is not revenue generating yet. Just like most corporations are throwing billions after AI despite AI not generating money for them yet. We as a country always have it backwards when it comes to sports. Which is why we throw crores to a couple of people after every olympic medal. That causes desperation and more pressure to perform. The right time to invest is in the future so that sportsperson are already secure and comfortable before they go to big events and then can win things even more easily. WPL provided that security and comfort to these players and they are able to handle pressure better. If these players were being paid peanuts and promised money only after cup wins, I can guarantee they would have choked and won nothing. Counting penny behorehand and then throwing money only after results is not the best way to encourage sports anywhere. We literally have billions and billions with BCCI yet if it goes to players, fans have problems. What a weird country. Edited November 2 by New guy

Eden & Wankhede are decades old, but that doesnt mean newer ones are second grade.
