Should Jay Shah be credited for success of Women's cricket in India?

We often criticize Jay Shah for mismanaging things in the BCCI, and he’s become an easy target for jokes. But to be fair, credit where it’s due — under his watch, women’s cricket has received much more attention and investment.

The growth of the WPL (Women’s Premier League) and the overall improvement in the women’s setup show that real progress is being made.

What do you guys think — has Jay Shah actually done a decent job in this area, or is it just a side effect of BCCI’s growing financial strength?

Yes but our libu trolls who are active in jemima thread or pakisani thread to bash jay shah will never credit him once for womens cricket team upliftment.

Why should Jay Shah be credited?

When was the last time BCCI secretary for credited for anything?

It actually started with CoA that managed BCCI for 2 years.Women cricket wasn’t under BCCI before that. Lot of reforms were brought out . Before Aus used to give equal pay and had BBL

However full credit to Shah for taking it forward and putting the money to good use. Still lot needs to be done

51 crores to them by India government. With the amount of money we have  it is easy to  bring in transformations.  But I still think world cup should be hosted at premiere venues.

People still rave about dalmia and srini so shah should be credited whether its wpl or pumping money in women cricket. Now regular women tournaments happening in india where foreign teams are travelling. Also women teams are also travelliing quite frequently an award of 51 cr for women no body would have thought about it 5-6 years ago. After 2011 an women team won a 50 over wc is testimony in itself for the great work done overall in women cricket.

Impact of WPL, equal match fees etc. will be felt a few years down the line. These players established themselves or were developed by the earlier system.

But credit where due, Jay has done more for women's cricket than his predecessors. You look at Srini mama's attitiude towards women's cricket and then thank god that boomers are on their way out from decision making roles.

Srini was against women’s cricket.

Now I hope they continue the good work and give them more games

I am sure now that women's cricket is blowing up, there will be more interest in WPL, more teams will be added in due course of time. But Chuskis shouldn't be allowed to own a team. Chennai can have a team but should be owned by someone other than Srini.

Imo a guy that can't even properly read a sentence in English can't be credited with anything.

People forget India reached the final in 2017 and T20 WC final in Australia in 2020.

Women cricket push has been happening for last 10 years now...

As someone said reforms started to happen during CoA.

Now he isn't associated with BCCI anymore. After the Asia Cup fiasco... can't even give this guy benefit of doubt

What Asia cup fiasco brother? That was one of the best tournament I have seen and the one that gave me the most happiness. Beating Pak on 3 consecutive weekends and the humiliation we dished at them on and off the field will haunt them forever. Surya Kumar Yadav can retire tomorrow but the guy is already a legend just to rile their entire nation up.

Lol exactly.

While its true there have been reforms, wpl push n equal pay needs to be applauded.

Just cause guy cant supposedly read English does not mean he cant reform..what sort of logic is that.

There is no LoL here... If you consider playing Asia Cup with Pakistan and indirectly funding PCB and Pakistan by millions ... Joke is already on you.

And Shah unable to bring Trophy back home despite being ICC chief  already makes the case  for most weakest Chairman in history.
