Australian strategy of Carey keeping up to fast bowlers

How do you rate that strategy against bazballers?

 

 

Soft dab caught in slips, batsmen not being able to step out.

Even Stokes was dismissed caught behind.

England did that against us when Gill batted since Gill was standing outside the crease in the first 2 tests. Gill edged similarly and got trapped one more time. That ploy worked for them as well. But GIll found  a method to counter it at the old trafford.

If team has a v.good wk is a good ploy,  think snaga use to do it Vass even in initial overs in Odis.

 

It gets batter un-comfortable , the balls batter should be facing on front foot makes them to play at still position or back-foot. But needs bowler who can make use of it.

 

A bowler needs to be able to bowl middle-off and 4th-5th stump line

But Jurel was not that great in keeping which is not the case with Carey.

 

Carey put on a masterclass in WK ..

It doesn't give a good look on bowler no matter how good the keeper is lol.  But it is a great strategy that can get you wickets, slow down scoring, confuse batsmen. It shouldn't be held against bowler.

yes stops batsmen from charging down.

Jurel is decent. Will get better. Carey is way more experienced,

I hope so but I have not seen this level of keeping from wicket keeper in long long time. Ian Healy was not this good either to fast bowlers.

Jurel is good against spin compared to Pant. DK used to stand up quiet often. I have not seen MSD doing that  much. Has he ever done that?

Msd did it few time, but he never liked it that much

MSD had a way better strategy bro. He replaced the fast bowlers with trundlers, so he never had to worry about standing right behind the wicket.

Oh yes, forgot to mention that the strategy was meant to safeguard his place rather than team India's.

Keeping up to pacers this comfortably, last time someone did that was probably Jack Russell in the 90s.

 

Amazing keeping, Carey is so underrated, even as a batsman he scores tough, impactful runs.

Carey is turning out to be a real clutch batsman for Aussies. His graph has risen a lot. Played some excellent knocks agsint Eng and NZ in white ball cricket recently. Played a crucial knock against WI in WI. Excellent keeper and scores fast runs that matters. Head and Carry are 2 match winners. We have just Abhishek in T20 and Bumrah in Tests.

They do it even for their domestic bowlers like Fergus O Neill. 

 

Carey's keeping was exceptional though

I have seen other keepers do it for few overs but carey did it for really long in this test match.
