The Realist Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Why not Ishant Sharma too? Piyush Chawla and Amit Mishra only recently retired. The last hurrah series? @maniac maniac 1
Ultimate_Game Posted January 2 Posted January 2 What's the point of recalling Shami? He's done and probably too old for WC 2027. We're building a grand-dad's army with Rohit, Kohli, Shami and even Bumrah would be on his last legs by then. I would rather they give upcoming pacers a chance and we might unearth some options. We don't gain anything with Shami. tapandrun 1

Its just sastri and kolhi were too strong fr these ppl to raise voices bcci has always been not transparent. As for farewell no one is getting any farewell these days, even rohit and kolhi didnt get when they retired from Test and T20is, this is how it is. Even pujara, he was unhappy when he was dropped. rahane is also kicking and he plays domestic because he has IPL contract and want to keep that contract going same for bhuvi. They all know whats going-on, they also want this ambiguity it help them to get Ipl contract. Shami has been a great bowler there is no doubt about it. but its time to move-on. Develop bowlers when Ind has time and have few bowlers who can be worked up-on fr 2-3 years till they get better, else will have to wait for next batch not sure when that is coming. Ind pacers take alot of development time ... and they already kind of wasted their time with Mukesh, avesh, unadkar.. etc.... but think there is element of IPL contract to all this... If they want to reward give chance to Ashok, Mishra . they can be developed in 1-2 yrs and can be useful in SA conditions... I don't want shami either. But they are giving him chance again because they didn't handle the issue very well in the first place. They probably hoped he would go on his own by pulling something. What do you know. He played the whole season if i am right. On Ashwin's channel an Indian express reporter did mention about him taking breaks in between. Share that concern with shami directly instead of confusion. tapandrun and jf1gp_1 2

vishalvirsingh Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) it will be a TEST for Shammi. if he is good , he will survive to the next series else he will be history. Prasidh/ Harshit and to certain extent Arshdeep are nearly ready. arsh is a dangerous weapon with the new ball as he gets the ball to talk ( swing inside and outside), Prasidh can ball some seriously rising balls from Good length which gives his wickets or he gets batsmen LBW. Harshit is probably India's fastest bowler along with Jasprit bumrah playing international cricket. he has a knack to hit the batsmen too which helps him get an edge. After seeing Harshit Rana LIVE in vishakapatnam, i am convinced Shammi wont be able to beat Harshit Rana.

The issue is even if this gets communicated players do not take it well. The issue with rohit+kolhi and tm and selectors is blown out of proportions, selectors would want to know how long they plan to play how they are keeping themself ready and fit . Even Ashwin's situation was not clear where his family members came out saying his treatment was not ok. not saying the communication is clear but Ind stars does not move-on and for TM and selectors its hard to work with them in such situations. express bowling and Lord 1 1

Pace , line length were all gone...Rana the newbie outbowled him in the tournament in the little we saw. Had Smith not missed a rank full toss in Semi final off him by the stroke of luck India would have been knocked out and there goes Shami as well. The Realist Posted January 3 Posted January 3 No Shami Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill picked for NZ ODIs India squad: Shubman Gill (c), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (wk), Shreyas Iyer (vc)*, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal
putrevus Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) So they screwed Shami again , I think it is end of his career. Jadeja is in the squad but not Shami. These two idiots Agarkar and GG have no brains. Edited January 3 by putrevus

Shami's problem is never the skill. It is the fitness. Post injury he didn't seem to get back to his routines religiously. He would run in bowl at decent pace all day in Test matches. Nowadays. he struggles in 2nd spell in a ODI. Fast bowling is a thankless job. I always have soft corner for guys who actually slogged the most by hitting the crease hard over the years. Hardest working people in cricket. this is also the reason why they suffer early burn out. Josh hazlewood pick up injury every series. Now cummins is slowly wearing off. He looked only 10% of his best in the CT. I thought that was the end of it for him. That is where they should have had a serious conversation. tapandrun 1

Bowlers like him will always pick wkt they are highly skilled and Ind domestic batter will not be able to handle then that consistently. Same with Bhuvi. The issue is Ind never had such skilled bowlers and then them to play domestics they will be pick wkts in domestics even at 65-70% of their fitness. Shami, Bhuvi,Siraj they are highly skilled bowlers.
tapandrun Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Non inclusion of Shami and Ishan Kishan shows how they just do table-top stories.
