Most Iyers i grew up with in Mumbai and Pune are from Palakkad, I was an exception being from the Trichy-Thanjavur area. And you better take your sacrilegous post on Sakkarai Pongal back you rube! But grew up in Bengaluru, so my Kannada identity is probably stronger. Can still speak quite fluent Palakkad Tamizh, though.
