But does he have the mental clarity  and physical fitness not to be a Prithvi Shaw?

THe difference though is Prithvi saw's potential was not astronomicaly high like Vaibahv. So even 50% of vaibhav's potential will be significantly higher htan Prithvi shaw's full potential.

He has great hand eye coordination and bat speed, but from a technique standpoint looks a bit agricultural. Might be great in tontee-tontee or even LOI, but I do not care until he proves himself in tests.

If he is the real deal, he should average close to 70 else he would underachieve like Tendu did despite having high potential. Does he have a calm head on those shoulder like Tendu did or will he fade like Kambli? How will he handle adversity? I guess it remains to be seen.

No. He is like Sehwag, Pant, Jaiswal.High impact match winning batsman. He is not going to average 50.But about 45ish. We always talk in terms of Tendulkar or Kambli. There are so many batsmen in between Kambli and Tendulkar that did very well. Infact majority would fall undre category.  Kambli is not even 10% as talented as Vaibhav. He had far too many holes in his batting.

I mentioned Kambli not for his batting talent, but how he threw it away because of indiscipline (triggered by not being able to deal with the pressure and limelight).

There is absolutely no parallel between Kambli and any Indian cricketer.  Kambli played 100 ODIs. He is not exactly failure in true sense. He could not take his game to next level. We had better batsman than him. We moved on. Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman.  Kambli not taking off is often talked about because he was compared with Sachin. If you look at in isolation he is just a cricketer who got replaced by better cricketers.  If we get someone beter than Vaibhav why not.

Depends on how the Indian ecosystem guides him in playing tests. Dravid seems to have spotted him early and he's the best at coaching batsmen to work within themselves to achieve the best possible results

They started bowling a flatter trajectory once he started hitting every ball for a six otherwise he would have broken Shreyas Iyer's record.

Jurel was controlling . He should have gone easy on him :)

At a minimum, he has the great potential to be the best FTB of all time, far surpassing Sehwag. However, it remains to be seen how he plays on wicket that turns the ball or seams/swings. He swings his bat very well, but just hand eye coordination and power will not work there. Compared to Tendu at this age, he has far surpassed in the tontee-tontee type format, but that hardly defines all of kirkut. Does he have the technique that Tendu cultivated to play well on all surfaces (away and home, spin or pace). Even Dravid, Laxman, etc. had good technique to be successful on unfamiliar pitches (something started by Gavaskar in the 70s). Sehwag was a misearable failure in SENA (except Aus on a couple occasions).

We all know he is super talent for his age. What remains to be seen is test cricket and to some extent ODIs. I do not think just swinging through the line is not going to work.

72 sixes in a season.. No one is going to touch that anytime soon other than VS himself.

Per his intvw with Ashwin he has been practicing for red ball cricket in bg..

Ashwin and him were having a fun moment..talking about trying to hit more fours..for odi and test cricket

Test cricket is the ultimate goal..

People wondered if anyone could match Gayle or Russell in six hitting. He demolished their record.

Get the kid in for NZ tests.

Waise bhi we lose there all the time with our usual approach. Let us at least try to rattle them with all-out aggression.

Against semi-new ball coming in at 5 or 6, even a quickfire 40 by someone like VS can tilt the balance in our favor. If he fails, so what, valuable experience for the boy wonder.

I remember Gayle era IPL bowlers. Local bowlers have come a long way since then.

Hitting 3 consecutive sixes to Cummins, Not respecting Rabada or Bhumrah is different league altogether.
