We both know ICC will go beg Pak to come back lol. They aren't Bangladesh. Their revenue depends on this guys playing ind.

Pcb will never back out of any icc event, and its a false narrative that is build around that pcb will pull-out. CA, bcci, Eng can pull out but not other boards. There major for some its the only source of revenue.

Board Latest Annual Revenue Currency Est. ICC Annual Distribution ICC Share of Board Revenue Dependence on ICC
England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) ~£310 million GBP ~£32 million (US$41m) ~10% Low
Cricket Australia (CA) ~A$454 million AUD ~A$57 million (US$37.5m) ~12–13% Low–Moderate
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ~PKR 10 billion PKR ~PKR 6–7 billion (US$34.5m) ~60–65% High

This is a revenue and % of icc contribution, 65% pcb revenue is icc share, ECB and CA is just 10-13% .

Also have posted in the past that how any ICC event game where Ind is playing in QF, SF or F it has more earnings to the broadcasters regardless of the opp. than Ind vs Pak game .

The issue here is a fake narrative is created by broadcaster/media/jurnos about that game because doing so get eye-balls to them and in-return to the game.

You play Ind in any icc event on a weekend will grab eye-balls, they just want a sure-shot game to draw the attention. That is it.

Tournament IND–PAK Share of Broadcaster Revenue
ICC World Cup (ODI) ~15–20%
ICC T20 World Cup ~20–25%
Asia Cup (for comparison) 50–80%

Only asia cup where this match matters, because no one is watching other teams play, thats a low quality tournament.

Yes 15-22% looks a big chunk but once Ind progress to QF and above that 15-22% shifts more towards 15% or less.

What the Ind vs pak game does for broadcaster is to secure atleast some mony and advertisement and hype

*** data based on rough estimates on google search

They were treated like favoured guests, feasted on Hyderabadi Biryani and parts wickets at their "home" base Hyderabad during the 2023 ODI WC. I hope they don't even play in India this time!

If they indeed come...better to throw them in some random place in Nagaland or Meghalaya, away from the other teams...where they will be surrounded by people who will look different to them.

Give them dog meat for breakfast, let them enjoy the hospitality of Nagas...they'll remember the taste for decades.

There will be as usual boycott of Pak match again by significant number of Indian cricket fans.

I won't expose the NE people to Pakistani cricket team. Their cricketers will immediately get to vile act of conversion of innocent people to that cult where killing people in the name of religion, misogyny, inbreeding and molesting kids is institutional and justified as a moral act with pride.

Post 2027, there could be possibility of a world without IND vs PAK game in ICC/ACC events. The broadcasters were too big to ignore for both ICC/BCCI and hence forced to play the Asia Cup and the World Cup. But once THE media cycle expires in 2027, BCCI should ask for no mandatory game vs Pak in new media cycle. KO matches are Still fine but no India vs Pak drama every time.

India is around 1.4b in population. Let's say about half (which is around 700m) is interested in cricket (I think this is a fair number) and out of that half, only 10% says no and boycott. That's still over 500m people. So drop in the bucket

Nothing to drop. That 10% also matters. The Pakistani people just can't accuse their military establishment day and night with all sort of things but sing chorus with them in unison when the latter grooms terrorists and use it as a weapon to kill Indians in the name of religion. If Pakistani civil society are hypocritical and selective , then we will assume they are actually on the same page as their nefarious army and any dissent is either show off if not an outright lie or lacks any serious conviction to bring a postive outcome.

So bottom line, yes, a reasonably secular atheist like me will stand up and say that "I am an Indian" and "I am a Hindu" and "I don't support any relationship with Pakistan" be it furthered by a Congress government or a BJP one. I wish individual Pakistanis well within their borders but we have nothing to do with them.

All well written and great arguments but money triumphs over your personal feelings or anyone's feelings. If feelings outweighed money, lots of world problem would have been solved by now. There is almost zero % chance that ICC will let Pak rot. Ind v Pak is their cash cow. If BD v SL was their biggest cash cow, ICC would have given BD a neutral venue and would have made all their logistics possible within a week. So my argument still stands, even if a minority of fan takes a stand and doesn't watch the match, it's a drop in the bucket.

Which is fine but those fans can still stick to their own stance.
