zen Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) A WK position should also consider WKing skills. It should not be automatically like the WK option that is batting well gets to be the WK. One needs to add “keeping well” to the equation too. For batting, you can compete with other batsmen, accounting for current form. Many WKs are good during regular takes, but a slight deviation in the ball’s trajectory - an edge or a stumping chance - can make them fumble big time. Both Samson and Kishan have a tendency to fumble catches and stumping while looking good during regular keeping. Edited February 1 by zen

helperononline Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I always maintained we need to look beyond beyond Sanju but everyone felt Sanju had scored three centurys and was not playing well since he is out of his batting position due to Gambhir ‘s politics. Good player manages to play well in any position example dhoni, yuvi, uttappa have played both in top and middle order. having said the above, I feel Sanju will be played to keep left and right combinations and I personally feel he is better keeper than ishan kisan tweaker 1

In the long middle of his career there was Dhoni, then Pant. Whatever opportunities remained, Jurel, KL Rahul and Bharat were there as well. And now he may too late because young ‘uns like Ishan are taking over.

Not backed properly WIsh him well. IN a way Archer has finished his career. Funnily enough Archer was destroyed by Indian batsmen in that series. He lost all hsi confidence in that series. Not like he is some failure.

He was very very conventional and traditional today. Not seen hm like this even in the IPL. One of those innings he played like you would play Ranji.

And realize that he was lucky to get this chance and this is the moment to grab it with gratitude and never let go. I really don't think it was wrong to drop him when they did. He was just not looking good for quite some time. In the NZ series just prior - he was 10, 6, 0, 24, 6. And Kishan was in sublime form, as was Abhishek. As Sanju is mainly in contention as keeper, he lost his spot to Kishan. Dropping is not always an insult. Sometimes it is necessary to refocus a player. That is my story and no one can disprove it.
